If you have not tried another USB cable do so. Another solution if the camera won't connect to the PC is to use a card reader. They are cheap and usually have the ability to read several different card types including Sony memory stick, SD, SDHC and compact flash.

I had the same problem, however mine was showing a slightly different error message it was E:62:11. Anyway a few of the websites online had postings from different people who had experienced the same problem, and they said to hit the camera lightly on the side where the cameras battery is located. I tried this right after I turned the camera on while the camera was booting up and it worked. So you can try doing this -- hopefully this helps

I think you can make a very good case for the geek squad being unable to completely fix the problem, or it would not have come back. You may have to take it up with progressively higher levels of management, and maybe even threaten to contact local news media that comes to the aid of consumers. Once in a while there's little you can do but give up, but make no mistake... if they don't help you, they want you to give up and go away! Whether you get them to make a fix or not will largely depend on your tenacity in being a "squeaky wheel", if you know what I mean. Good luck!

is there any plug for AC ? try work with AC. if nothing happens looks like mainboard.

its the vibration canceling unit, i had the same problem.
if you have good hads you can fix it.( on your oun risk)
1) disasamble the camera, you will see black plastic box inside, this is he lens unit.
2) on the botom you see 2 scrwes, they are holding the CCD remove them and the ccd unit will come from the lens assembly
3) the next is the stabilizer unit it is the problematic one. it is located on the left side of the lens asebly and is held by 2 screws.
you can test it by puling out the cable connected to it (the conector is just under the lens) and verifign that the problem is solved. ( you can leave it this way it will shoot fine just without the anti shake)
4) to fix it take it out ,remove the plastic cover, you see the lens on a plastic mount it should be glued to the magnet under it. the problem is that the glue fals apart.
remove one of the pins on wich it slides, and take the lens and the magnet out.
5) reglue the magnet and reasemble the camera.
6) power up and test, for me that solved the problem

sorry to say this friend....u have inserted an incompatible battery in your camera
that is why the message "for use with compatible battery only" keep showing up whenever u switch on your camera

so u got to replace your currently installed battery to the compatible battery of your model

so i have searched the web for your model's compatible battery list...just check with it in the below link

You could try to reset the camera back to original factory settings .
Follow the appropriate procedure below for your camera.
Using an Initialize option in the menu
Since Cyber-shot cameras have different menu system layouts, refer to the instruction manual
Using a RESET button
1.Locate the RESET button on the camera.
2.Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds.
3.After 2-3 seconds has elapsed, release the RESET button.
Performing a manual power reset
1.Turn off the camera.
2.Remove the battery pack.
3.Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
4.Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
5.Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
6.Reinsert the battery pack.
7.Turn on the camera.

Touch [HOME] to bring up the main menu. Select Settings (toolbox icon). Select the "A" icon. Select the desired language.

According to the user manual, there were only drivers to support Windows 2000 and Windows XP any way, so no great loss.

The camera is probably supported by default in Windows 7.

To find out if this is the case, you should try using Picasa to download the pictures off of your camera.

Picasa is a free download from Google and has many cutting-edge features for picture management. I think that you'll like it.

• Download Picasa from their web site (click here) to your Desktop
• Once the Picasa file has completed downloading, Open the file and follow the directions displayed.
• Once you have Picasa installed, connect your Olympus camera. Picasa will recognize that you have connected the camera and ask you how you want to proceed.
• Have Picasa copy the images from your camera
• You can then use Picasa to handle the photos from your camera.
