Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 Digital Camera - Page 2 Questions & Answers
No software to download photos
You don't need any software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.

Hi there,
When I take pictures
Hi,
The first thing you should do here is fine tune the white balance of the camera. Blue tint is common on cameras that are not properly set up in this regard.
The FZ8's white balance system provides a very good selection of WB options, including: TTL Auto and pre-sets for daylight, cloudy, shade, halogen, flash, and White Set 1 & 2 (most camera makers call these custom or manual WB modes) which allows shooters to use a white card (or a white ceiling/wall) to set WB. Strangely, there is no preset for fluorescent lighting. The FZ8's white balance fine tuning mode is adjustable over a +/- 9 step range.
Go into your menu and fine tune the white balance ny aiming it at a piece of white card. This should hopefully eliminate the blue tinge from your photos.
In relation to the horizontal lines this may be more difficult and there is a possibility that the two symptoms are linked to a fault in the digital image sensor in the camera itself. If tuning the white balance does not completely resolve the issue of horizontal lines then the camera will have to go for a service repair as the cause is a faulty hardware component (digital image sensor - sometimes referred to as CCD)
Thanks for using FixYa.

The correct procedure is to go into the menu and find "copy". You will find the option to copy the internal menu to a memory card.
How do I transfer pics
You can purchase an SD card reader from any camera or stationary store plus on line. Just be sure to have an image editing software program that match the camera. Some camera manufactures offer free downloads. Or you can try iphoto or Photoshop elements among many others. Good health and God bless.
