I have no picture on my screen when I'm in standby

Hi,

This seems to be a problem with image sensor. Since the viewfinder takes it's image from the sensor , CCD sensor's seems be the possible fault. This is a common problem with Sony's camcorder. You need to send the unit for repair. There were certain recalls for CCD sensor's, so you could always check with Sony whether there is any recall or they could get your camcorder repair at a lower price as a goodwill gesture.

The other possibility is a problem in electronic circuitry.I have seen it rarely but it might happen. Unfortunately, without looking at the camera myself, it would be tough to comment, where it went wrong. If you have experience in electronics, could read schematics, would be able to keep all the precautions, ii could try to find out the service manual for it. Once you purchase that, you could open the camera and try to repair it. I would be there as well, in case any help is required.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Can you recover movies after formatting the HDD on

Preformat : By Fix-shad0w

#1
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Memory Card Trouble

I couldn't find any info on the net blogs I looked at, however, it's possible that the cpu doesn't recognize a larger than 4 gb card. Try your old 4 gb, if it works, that's probably what's going on unless you have a bad 8 gb card. Not all cards are upwards compatible due to engineering limitations.
