I have a pdp4298ed1 akai TV with a digital antenna screwed into the ant in. How do I scan for digital channel's?
To scan for digital channels on your Akai PDP4298ED1 TV, you can follow these steps:
- Press the "Menu" button on your TV remote.
- Use the arrow buttons to select the "Setup" menu and press "OK".
- Use the arrow buttons to select the "Installation" option and press "OK".
- Select "Automatic Search" or "Auto Scan" and press "OK". The TV will begin scanning for digital channels.
- Once the scan is complete, the TV should display a list of channels that it has found. You can then use the arrow buttons to select a channel and press "OK" to tune to it.
If the auto scan feature does not work, you may need to try a manual scan instead. To do this, follow the same steps as above but instead of selecting "Automatic Search", choose "Manual Search" and enter the frequency of the channel you want to tune to. You can find the frequency information for your local channels by doing a quick online search or checking with your local TV provider.

The reason you're not finding any bad caps is that's not the issue. If it was the set wouldn't power up then shut down, faulty caps don't cause issues like this. One thing that would have helped is the model number but I have a good idea what's causing your issue. When the set is powered on it goes through the boot log sequence, this is stored in the EEPROM that's located on the main board, chances are if you take a can of freeze spray and freeze the IC the set will power up as this IC isn't used once the set has powered on but it would only work one time but it's a way to confirm if this is the issue. If you have advanced solder skills you can order an IC and replace it for under 20 bucks, but it's not something easy to do without the skills or equipment, the other option is replacing the main board, however that may run more than it's worth so buying a new TV may make more sense
What do you do after thunder strikes your akai tv
Thunder is just the noise. The damaging thing is lightning if it hits a power pole or your house. It causes a power spike of thousands of volts which damages every component inside your television. You claim against your power utility company with the complaint that they failed to regulate the voltage. You buy a replacement set. They may have small print that says it was 'An Act of God', in which case you claim against your home insurance. They often have a get out clause that you have to pay the first $1,000 of any claim. You need a new set.
