Tv powers up for a second makes poping noise and go off
Our Sony WEGA 50" also made this popping sound and we suddently had no picture. We ordered a new lamp, followed the instructions, and everything's been working just fine. Searched Google for "lamp for TV model" and found excellent prices. Good luck!
I have a LG 50PC1DRA plasma and my TV keeps blinking.

WHY IS MY TV CUTTING ON AN OFF BY ITSELF
This problem is caused by a shorted circuit board, the cutting off and on is a symptom of the that defective circuit board. With falt panel LCD TV's as big as 42" going for as low as $400.00 on sale it is not the best idea to repair the problem which may be more than that cost to replace.
How do ou reset plasma tv
Just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket. Plug it back in to after 10 minutes or so. This must make the TV to a hard reset.

guessing may or may not help---if the power board had bad caps you may have missed one that looks good and is not OR some other part on the board may be bad--my instinct in this case would be to consider replacement of the power board first if you cannot confirm every single voltage is coming out of it.
Cant get my tv to come on
I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:ISSUES: 1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves
checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.Answers to issues:1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not. Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom. What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have tobuy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.

Open the back panel. have a look at the power supply components. Look for abnormal component shapes. i have found bulged capacitors which cause this problem.
Please consult a professional technician, if you are a novice in this field.
All the best

It's the capacitors on the power supply, it's a common problem, either buy a capacitor repair kit (yes they make them) and have a TV tech solder them on, or buy a new power supply board (about $200) and remove and replace it yourself (it's that easy)
