First, try checking the USB Ports of the Notebook by connecting different devices to it.
If none of the Devices are detected, try following the steps to uninstall and reinstall the USB devices from the Device Manager :
Press hold the Start Menu and the R key.
This will get the Run command box.
Type devmgmt.msc in this window and click on Ok button.
The Device Manager window opens.
In this, click on the + mark next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Right click on each entry under this and select Delete/Remove.
Repeate this steps untill there are no entries left under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Now, after all the entries are deleted, restart the Notebook and cancel any window that tries to install any Drivers.
Now, download the latest Chipset Drivers from the link below :

Save the Drivers in the Notebook and double click to install.
Restart the Notebook once the installation is completed.
Check by connecting any USB Device to the Notebook.

If the issue still persists even after installing the relevent update, try performing Windows Update after connecting the USB Device to the Notebook by visiting the link below :

Let me explain on how to connect the TV to HP notebook.

There are two ways to connect the TV to the notebook. One is with the S-Video cable and another one is HDMI cable. (If you computer had HDMI port)

Connecting notebook and TV with S-video cable:

You need to get the Svideo cable and connect it to the notebook Svideo port to TV Svideo port and press Fn+ F4 to get the notebook display on the TV.

For the first time pressing the Fn+F4 keys, you will get the display on the TV and there will be no display on the Notebook.

If you press the Fn+F4 for second time, you will get display back to the notebook and Tv screen becomes blank.

By pressing the same keys again will show the display on both the screen.

Samething connecting with the HDMI cable, if your computer had HDMI port.

If you won't get the display on the external screen even after following the correct process, then once you need to reinstall the display driver.

If the issue persists, then you have to check with another cable.

Note: No need to install any software on the notebook to connect the TV to the notebook.

Overheating does not normally cause red dots on the screen. The pixels are most likely failing. Try to update the video card drivers and see if it helps. if not , then take the laptop to a authorised service vendor, the display may need replacing.

Activating the webcam
The drivers for the webcam are pre-installed and an HP Webcam 1000 icon displays on the desktop. Double-click on the icon to activate the webcam. The blue light illuminated next to the webcam lens, just above the LCD screen, indicates the webcam is on.

If double-clicking on the icon does not activate the webcam, do the following activities:

Click Start, then right-click on My Computer, and then select Properties.

On the My Computer properties window, click on the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Click on the plus ( +) sign next to Imaging Devices and locate the webcam item in the device list.
If the webcam is not listed, do the following activities to install the driver using the webcam driver recovery.
Click Start, click All Programs, click PC Help & Tools, and then click HP Application Recovery.
Select Driver installation and click Next.
Select the HP Webcam 1000 driver from the list, and click Install.
If the webcam is listed under Imaging Devices but there is a red X on the icon, the webcam is disabled. See figure below.

To enable the webcam, right-click the HP WebCam 1000 icon and click Enable. The webcam icon should display on the Desktop.
Alternate locations for the webcam icon
If the webcam is installed but the icon is not displayed on the desktop, look for the webcam icon in one of these alternate locations.
Click Start, and click My Computer. The webcam icon should be displayed with the other devices. See figure below.
Click Start, and click Control Panel , and then click Scanners and Cameras. The webcam icon should be displayed with the other devices.
The HP Webcam 1000 does not install a listing under any of the All Programs menu.
Using the Webcam Diagnostic Test
To ensure the webcam is operating, do the following activities:
Right-click on the WebCam icon, and then select Properties.
Click on Test Camera under Diagnostics on the General tab.
The test should only take a few moments, but allow the test to complete operations by itself.
The result of the test, either “passed” or “failed”, will be displayed.

Hello Al,I hate to inform you but the graphics chip in these laptops are known for doing this. HP is aware of that. Every time some one brings me a Hp Dv6000 laptop about 75% of the problem is the system board or overheating issues. First try cleaning the laptop screen with laptop screen cleaner Walmart LCD Display Screen Cleaner for TVs Computers and Cameras if its still blurry connect a external monitor to your laptop to see if the display is blurry on the external monitor (to get to toggle the video from your laptop you will have to press the Fn key + F4) If its still blurry then its the graphics card or chip needs to be replaced. They are all integrated with the system board / mother board.If its clear and images are good then the laptop screen will need to be replaced. hope that helps.
