ur installed audio driver might be missing,try to reinstall it and restart ur system.Or if ur laptop sound is mute then unmute it.

Start system holding down f11 key till you hear a beep.

This takes you to system restore to factory default but remember to backup your documents first.

If the laptop is booting (you hear the beeps and the drives), first make sure the display is on. Press the FN key and the key to activate the screen a number of times until the laptop display comes on.

Try starting it in safe mode and see if it starts there
on boot up tap F8 till menu comes up then choose safe mode

If the laptop is under a year old it could still be under warranty and if so I would get it repaired under warranty.

You could have a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Please try an external monitor. This will tell you if the laptop circuitry or screen has gone bad. Either way it'll have to be sent to a repair company like mine or taken to a local service person.

U need to install quick launch button software. Go to hp site and look for ur model related software from there download quick launch button (QLB). it will ask u to restart. hopefully it wil work.

other way is go to this location u must have QLB in there.

Does your computer show the first Dos Startup and logo? try pressing F1 iv found some labtops have a error and tend to stop loading the hard drive itself. Also try a XP Cd and restore or the last solution is reformat

HP issued a service alert 07122001 covering such AMD-based laptops with your wifi failure, as well as additional failures within your product line. This is a warranty enhancement that will cover the replacement part and labor for you the customer.

HP has very recently started phasing out their older models like the 9005/9010, as the issue alert is basically good from 2yrs of date of purchase.

2 solutions for you....

1) Call HP and give them the serial/model info and inquire about that service alert # mentioned above, see if your laptop is still covered.

2) Replace the motherboard yourself and at your cost

(ok maybe another option)

3) Get a USB wifi card :/

Try downloading this (The audio driver)
If that does not work, go to control panel and to "Audio devices and sound themes", Right-click on a empty spot in the window that pops up, and choose "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconncted devices", if you see a icon that is called internal speakers or speakers..something similar. You have to right-click it, and choose Use as default.

its possible that it is a software issue or that the speakers simply just burned out

Restart the computer in safe mode and then check. If you can boot in safe mode get the userinit.exe replaced by copying the file from a working computer or download from internet

Reinstall the drivers from the HP site, needs to be the one from your region eg, UK, Americas etc. When on HP site just go to the Help and Su[pport page and go to Download drivers and insert the relevant details required
