error code 5010

When I turn on my Mp 510 printer it just shows error code 5010 and will do nothing else. The lights flash orange and green alternately. Any suggestions?

Yes, same thing happens to me...Error code 5010...and flashing green and orange...alternating lights.

I was trying to photocopy (in basic black, not colour). I had a few pages to copy. I got this 5010 Error code after EACH copy!

I had to turn off the printer after each copy and then turn it back on for the next copy. That's not the worse of it.....once I turned the printer back on and hit copy again...the printer took a VERY long time to scan the item for the next copy. It took me a good 40 minutes to copy 15 pages.
Sooooo irritating!!!!!

Anyone know what to do?

I've also had the paper jam on me tons of times. I am really disappointed with this product. I would not recommend this printer to anyone!

CANON PIXMA MP510 WILL NOT POWER ON

My printer has been powered off for several weeks because the black ink cartridge needs replaced. I'm trying to turn it on to replace cartridge and it will not power on. I've tried other outlets and still cannot get it to turn on.

I had a similar problem. What worked for me was to remove the power pack, which is secured by two clips. Slide a knife or similar to release the power pack. It will slide out to reveal a mini-plug with five red wires. Disconnect this.

This where it gets a bit uncertain. I plugged in the power pack and put a meter across the outputs. They seemed to be working (ie I was getting voltage). I had a quick look at the indide of the MP510 and decided there was nothing further I could do. I then reassembled everything and, just out of curiosity, pressed the power button again. And it came back to life!

I suspect that in your and my cases, the MP510 had "crashed" and I performed a hard reset by removing and then reconnecting the power pack. But who knows? Best of luck

cannon MP510 printer has Error, - The type of print head

cannon MP510 has Error, - The type of print head is incorrect, install the correct print head. Have cleaned print head and still will not work.

I solved this on mine by removing and reinstalling the print head.
1. Remove and set aside the ink cartidges (don't make a mess)
2. lift the gray print head lock lever that is to the left of where the ink cartridges go.
3. Lift out the print head out without touching the ink ports inside, the contacts on the back, or the print nozzles on the bottom. The print head is the grey thing with circular ink ports that seat the ink cartridges. there are good pictures in the PDF of the Easy Setup Instructions available on the Canon Printer website. Look under the printer, then support, then downloads: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0900002776/mp510_esi_us_v2.pdf .
4. Put the print head back in, lock the lever, reinstall the cartridges in the roper positions. And voila!
If this doesn't work you may actually need a new print head.

does not print error b200

canon mp 510 does not print. gives error code b200

Helo, found on web. Good Luck :0)

The error code is standard for many of the late model MPxxx printers. The B200 error is "Printhead Temperature exceeded", What this means that while you were printing some document, either one or more of the printhead ink wells ran out of ink and the printing continued. Printhing without ink in the wells will OVERHEAT THE PRINTHEAD NOZZLES and can potentially burn the out. The printer has a built in temperature sensor to detect the ambient temperature and to monitor the temperature of the head. This data is always collected and monitored and saved in the EEprom data and the Service Test print data.

If the error will not go away once you have unplugged the priner for at least 5 minutes, then there is the possibility that you have already burnt out the head. Remove the printhead and use a 5x magnification glass to look VERY CLOSE at all of the nozzles to see if you can detect any possible burnt out nozzle.

It many come down to need a new printhead.

Hi,

  1. Press the "On" button on the top panel of the printer to turn it on. Open the paper output tray at the front of the printer.
  2. Lift the entire printer cover, which should snap open. Then lift the small inner cover.
  3. Press down on the tab below each ink tank to snap out and remove the tank. Lift the print head lock lever that holds the ink tanks in place.
  4. Lift the overflow tray toward the top of the printer and slowly pull it out of the printer. Take care to avoid spilling any ink that has collected in the tray.

Good Luck!
