My epson stylus cx6000 has stopped printing black.

Be sure you are using genuine epson ink. Epson printers are "smart" and will not allow generic ink to work properly. Even after you replace a generic with a genuine it may take several print outs and alignments to get it to print again.

I downloaded drivers for my Epson printer so thaat

If you can it will be ideal to have the printer crossed checked than to come to an early inference.
I would suspect that the drivers has some errors and so it has not meshed up. If so remove the printer connection from the PC and un-install the drivers.
Now reinstall the drivers and then connect the printer which will be detected and installed as a new hardware. if then the printer behaves the same manner, I would suggest that the printer be checked on another PC with the same drivers.
This will confirm if the OS has some errors with the downloaded printer drivers or that the drivers are faulty.
Also you can uninstall and remove the drivers and then download once again the drivers to make sure there were no errors.
Please check this out.

I was printing a paper

An e-90 error is a fatal error with the printer itself, the only solution is to contact Epson if the unit is still under warranty. Otherwise I understand the fix is more cosstly than the printer. The error seems to be reported most when a new black cart. is installed, you could try reseating the cart, powering down the unit for 15 min and then plugging back in and see if that will reset the printer. You can also try the SCC reset utility....http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscserve.exe

Epson recommends genuine Epson cartridges rather than remanufactured ones.

However, if you have newly filled cartridges, you might try the following link to reset the ink levels as being full:

I lost my installation cd

You will need to go to the Epson website and download the drivers (the files that were on that CD). Save the files to your desktop for easy retrieval.

Here is the link.

You could find the root cause by performing different steps. One of the easiest methods is that you need to make sure that the plastic protective tape which is usually used on the new black cartridge is off. Usually the user makes this mistake. This mistake might occurs due to absent-mindedness. The reason could also be some distractions which happen while loading the new black ink cartridge.

I cant find the scanner

It would help to know your Operating System. If you have windows XP, then click Start/Programs/Printers & Scanners. When your printers are opened up, you can right click the scanner icon and copy it or drag it to the desktop. If you don't have the scanner listed as an available device then you need to start the wizard to add it again. If you don't have Win XP then go to printers through control Panel and do the same once you get there.
