After removing the pickup rubber (and not removing the rubber band from it's plastic drum) I cut a thick piece of card stock paper the width of the rubber band and slid it under the rubber. I thought it would make it contact the paper with more force and it worked great.

if it is a whole piece of paper open the toner door and take the toner out and that should give U access to the jammed sheet. If it is just little pieces of paper get as many as possible and them push a piece of card stock through to clear out the rest
