amana is having some problems with their compressors locking up. if the compressor is manuactured by tecumseh then tthe compressor is mostlikely locked up and will need replacing. good news is your refrig is most likely less than years old and should be in warranty to amana..

If the fan is still working (and it sounds like it is, then the evap coils are frozen up. A typical failure is the defrost bi-metal t-stat but I've also seen LOTS of the adaptive defrost circuit boards fail on this model. I would lean toward the circuit board first as the culprit. What tends to happen is that service techs have certain common generic parts in their van, and rather than ordering a part to fit and have a return visit, they fit what they have. Parts seem to be readily available. The compressor is listed but no HP Specs. a. Remove bypass cartridge from water filter head in rear
right corner of refrigerator section. Twist cartridge
counterclockwise 1/4 turn and pull down to remove.
Save bypass for use at a later date.

Sharla, It could possibly be the ice maker rod that tells the ice maker whether it's full or not. If it's in the down position it wants to make ice and it'll make a clicking noise. Lift the rod up if it's down. Hopefully this helps!? Best to you.

I'd like to know how you determine the age based on the info inside my Amana. I double checked the numbers. Model AFI2538AEB4 Serial KY2886165
