Test: You might see a pic by shining a bright light against the screen. (Halogen can burn a spot if too close for too long like 15 seconds). If so, you probably have an inverter, backlight tube or coil/driver board problem. Some of these units have a bad ground on the tube driver coil board which can be shimmed and/or tightened. Sometimes a simple car light tester (continuity tester with a 12v bulb) from casing/mount ground to any of the negative (upper usually) side of the backlight driver coils will light the screen and reveal if and which tube is non functional. I leave one dome light running in such ground position one of my TVs at all times for regulation and night dimming.

I have this same model TV & am using it as a second computer monitor. I have mine running through an HDMI connection on input 4. I will mention it runs at 1280x720 recommended. I'm not sure if it's the display or just my video card, but mine can handle UP TO 1920x1080. Something to note, however, is that the TV has a natural refresh rate of 60 Hz. Check your video settings that they can handle that (or at least an even integer thereof). My card (ATI HD 5750) is running it at 30 Hz with some minor issues.
Final point: if you want the sound to pump out of your TV as well, remember to change the default sound device in your volume control panel.

This television would benefit from an hdtv indoor outdoor amplified antenna not obstructed by trees, aluminum, bricks, and etc. Make sure the signal type is air and not cable and complete a channel scan during primetime tv hours after connecting to this antenna. Buy a large one that you can mount to the wall usually in a large flat box on the shelf in the store. Philips has one sold at Walmart.

i have the same issue and after removing the back and doing a voltage test on cp506 and found the 24vdc that was suppose to be there lead me to the back light inverter. a very common problem for these tv's and if you can take a voltage test of vdc then you can confirm it! one problem the manufacture does not sell it seperate from the lcd panel so it is very expencive and to find them use they are hard to find because of them being a common problem! good luck and if you need help taking the voltage test let me know!
