Toshiba satellite a135 monitor goes black

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Servvices manual

In order to change your DVD drive you need not take your system apart, there should be one screw on the bottom near your drive to remove which will allow you to slide the drive out.

Should you feel more comfortable with a picture guide, here's a link

You can do it, don't get discouraged.

The driver in my laptop won't work.

It sounds to me like the disc drive may be failing. I suggest replacing the drive. For an experianced end user with some tech. skills this can be a somewhat easy fix. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, take it to your local PC repair shop.

Touch pad refuses to work

Try going to Toshiba's support page and re-install the driver for the touchpad. If this does not work. You may need to replace the touchpad itself.

Re: How Do Reset Bios Password In Toshiba Satellite A135-s2276 ?
1)Remove Laptop Battery
2)Take off Memory Cover(underneath - square cover, Sits
in middle of laptop 1 retaining screw
3)Using two thumbs spread spring clips to outside and
pull out RAM memory.
4)Remove clear vinyl label opposite RAM memory slots in
upper left corner( laptop battery slot is on right, DVD
drive is facing away from you)
5)Using a magnifying glass (unless you have perfect
vision)in the upper left corner you will see JOPEN1 with
a white silkscreen square next to it . Inside the square
you will see what looks like the letter T over a U.
Using a metal paper clip short the U to the Silver 1/4"
post connecting the motherboard to the laptop case(this
is you ground, it is located above what looks like a
silkscreen outline of a chip)hold for 25 -30 seconds.
6) Place back your RAM memory, put in the laptop battery
and test start laptop. you should see a selection of F1
or F2 for setup. Using the F2 gets you into the Bios
menu where you reset the time and date. Then Tab over to
the SECURITY setting tab and change your passwords. Now
hit F10 key ,yes to save and your done!
Note: if your having trouble your most likely grounding
the ground(that blob of solder about 1/8"dia on both
ends of the "silkscreen chip outline" This is about as simple as i can break it down

tell please ! i ready for do this now ...

Default bios password toshiba satellite a135-s2276

what you need to do is pull both the laptop battery as well as the cmos battery. in some instances, the battery can be pulled, but on other models, i have seen the battery as an actual physical part on the motherboard or somewhere where it is not easily accessible, in which case you need to clear the cmos by using a jumper on the motherboard, since it is a laptop, they are all different. you may need to see if you can locate a copy of the motherboards schematics and go from there.

Why Won't My Toshiba Satellite Laptop (A200 -AH3) Not Burn Discs?

Look for any software on the machine that uses the the burner. Start by updating it (many of these programs use what are called burning engines to process the request to write to a cd, and if theyre damaged, then the writing process will appear to occur, but wont do anything). If you use programs that download and manage music (such as Limewire, Bearshare, or Napster), uninstall them.
As a last ditch effort, you can try the istructions in this Microsoft article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
Be warned, you will have to reinstall the software needed to burn your CDs if you do this. It has fixed 99% of CD burning issues out there. Good luck
