First off, make sure the unit is not on hold. You can check that by looking at the side for the HOLD switch.

Next try to reset the player. Here's how you do it:
With the unit, get a paperclip and poke the reset hole at the back of the unit until the unit shuts off.

Try to turn on the unit and check if the buttons will be activated. If they'll work, format the player.

Next, what exactly happens when you try formatting the player using your PC?
You can try going to My Computer. There, you're going to see teh YP-K5. You DO NOT format that. Rather, double click on it. You're suppsoed to see a STORAGE folder. Right click on that directory and select FORMAT.

you could try to reload the firmware available at the link above they have guides available as well or if it still under warranty you might have them repair it
RTC means Real Time Clock, it is a hardware clock designed to count actual time. if this is faulty, things like playback and touch sensing will be affected.
It needs repairing unfortunately

Hi i bought a samsung yp-k5 but i have lost the CD of it now i can't conncet it with Computer

The problem is a faulty headphone socket on the MP3 player. This can be repaired, if you cannot DIY then take it to an electronic repair shop. Get a quote first, it might not be worth the repair, then put your money towards a new player.

Heres how I solved this problem
- I was running XP SP2 with WMP10
(Windows Media Player 10)
- Windows will not recognise the T10 unless it has the right MTP (Media transfer Proticol) drivers. This is the little yellow flag you may see on the task bar adter Windows detects the device and trys to install the driver. The drivers are only found in WMP11. Therefore unless you are running WMP 11 your T10 won't sinc or be recognised.
- The Samsung software wont help- so don't bother even installing it as WMP11 has the drivers and does everything the Samsung software does + more.
- I tried to download and install WMP11 directly from the microsoft website but my PC failed the authentcation so I saved the file to my HD instead.
-I then unpacked the WMP11.exe file using WinRAR which i downloaded for free from http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10745708.html.
- I individually ran the WMP11 install file and then all of the other unpacked files by double clicking on them (it takes some time). This installed WMP 11
- I then shut down the PC, plugged in My T10 and WMP/windows recognised the T10!

I had a friend who alos did the above but had a couple of problems- he uninstalled WMP10, Installed WMP11 using the WinRAR method above and it didn't work. After uninstalling WMP11 and then reinstalling it again using the WinRAR to un pack it it finally worked after a couple of re boots.

Note: Prior to using the above method i googled and tried several other ways to get the T10 recognised and none worked. From what I can tell you Need WMP 11

Virtually you should have no problem in connecting it on a Imac for download or upload mp3 files..and the driver for this if it is required should be on the disk that came with the mp3 player ..also ..if you want to connect it to the sound system just get a jack-jack cable and plug it to the mic in ..or aux to get signal and play it ..
But like I said ..in general the new generation of mp3 players do not require any drivers anymore..and are seen as a removable storage device as soon as plugged..just plug and on Imac an icon should appear in desktop ..either with the name if it si recognized or just like storage device ..and if you drag files in that location ..you should be able to play them into the mp3..
if the device is seen but not recognized ..this means that you need a driver for it that works on mac..and after the drivers is installed the mp3 needs to be powered and on ...and in some cases the connection accepted from the device ..

so ..this is all they provide in the matter of drivers and I didnt see any for mac..so just try to see if the system will see it like a flash drive or other removable device ..cause it seam that its the only way ...
or ..try to use Itune and see if it is seen by it

well if it dosent turn on then you should either get a refund. or it may be ike 1 of my computers and only works with the power cable in also if that dosnt work try getting a new power cabble

Check the Following Instructions:
1. Check USB cable properly connected to the USB port.
2. If cable not connected properly or cable break, It should be not connected or not charge.
3. Change the another USB Cable, If problem presit, check ur PC USB Port.

then it doesn't need to be charged duh.

it means that it will stop playing the song and will freeze.its like the pause button but you cant do anything, not even look at your playlist.if you slide it back the song will continue to play and you can yous the arrows agian or the back arrow agian.

What has just happened to my K5 is that the ribbon connecting the two 'halves' of the mp3 player has snapped. Unfortunately the battery is on the speaker half thus it is disconnected resulting in it not being able to turn on or charge since there's no battery.

I've used mine for well over a year now, of pretty much everyday use though. If yours is relatively new then it might be another issue.

Real time clock, maybe? I'm not sure, but re-installing your current firmware may correct the issue. Check your firmware version on your K5 under "Settings>System>Firmware version", and you should be able to find links to MTP and UMS versions can be found in the forum.

Well, from the comments, I would say that it sounds like the drivers are not the problem, so you may have to upgrade the firmware. Try this website for the firmware download. It was the most simple site I could find. If you read everything, you should do be fine upgrading the firmware.
