This camera only takes SD cards up to 2GB. The 16GB card you bought is an SDHC card...it will not work in the camera.

on the buttom op your camera there is a cover that should lift up in there in your sd card
gently push on it and it should pop out

IT SHOULD JUST SLIDE BACK IN PUSH IT UNTIL IT LOCK IN

Go into the setup menu of the camera and scroll to "format" and follow the on-screen instructions.

The reason why your camera is beeping 3 times and then shutting off is because it is dead. Charge it for a couple of hours or so and it will turn on and work again.

Check and see if the battery is getting charged when its connected on usb to the computer.

The battery is an internal rechargeable one and is not removable. Just plug into power source (usb cable) to fully charge before use.

Unfortunately the laser can die after only two or three uses. But most of these players have at least a year warranty. I recommend taking back to the place of purchase.
