if this unit is giving you a 201 error with no paper inside the printe
compartment its telling you that the main motor drive has failed to initiate.
replace the motor drive

It sounds as if you have to many profiles?
try deleting one that is not needed.
How is this machine connected? Network or USB
If this is connected via Network, you can type the ip address of the machine in internet explorer, and go to the NIC/Web Page.
From there you will see profiles.

I would highly recommend you going to lexmark and downloading the Users Guide.
(this manual will tell you more than you will ever need to know about this machine, and there are trouble shooting section in this as well)

Printers tend to have this problem if for some reason dirt gets trapped under the print heads. A standard head cleaning is the best solution, which can be found in the menu.

To clear the fax flash memory you will need to enter diagnostic mode. Use the following steps.
1. Press the menu key, the * key, and then the # key. The LCD will read SERIAL NUMBER. 2. Press the up arrow once. The LCD will read UTILITIES. 3. Press the checkmark button. Press the down arrow until Erase EFS. Then press the chechmark button. 4. The unit will now erase the fax memory then reset itself to a ready state.
This will erase any faxes that may be blocking the memory.

PC life warning on X342n indicates that the photoconductor (pc) unit has nearly reached it's rated life. You can still continue printing but will be at risk for developing print quality issues. It is advisable that pc unit be replaced. Now, when you replace the pc unit you will also need to manually reset the pc page counter as well. Thanks.

After replacing your photo conductor kit you need to reset the "PC LIFE WARNING" message. With the front toner door open press and hold the red <STOP> until you see the "RESETTING PC COUNTER" message
