I have a Hitachi plasma Model #55HDX99 and am having issues with volume control. I cannot "lower" the volume by any means - even on #1 volume it sounds like #50!!!! What can I do to fix this????

Try resetting via the on screen menu.

55HDX99 picture is getting darker and darker. Have adjusted settings but no improvement. It's 4 years old and has probably less than 7000hrs.

I would try that if available but suspect a bad board somewhere in the set--average life on all Plasma sets is 3-5 years so maybe time to upgrade to a new set?

I got a 55dhx99 the red standby light stays on

sounds like bad capacitors in the power board. open it up and check for 1s that look like thay have swelling or are opening up. type in bad caps on you tube to see what a bad capacitor looks like....

It is really hard to fix sets like this without voltage checks, but if you have any led lights flashing this may tell what is wrong with your set. Also if there are lights in the back of the set that are flashing on the logic board or the Digi-Main PWB But usually with a bad digi-main you have audio, also check the buffer board and see if any holes lie in the buffers. These are the boards on the far left side of the set looking from the back. The buffer chips are the black square IC's sometime you will see chip pieces out of the buffers. This mean that one is bad.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV. I may have the solution to your problem.

Here was MY problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you to consider.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It will, at the very least, give you a general idea of the process. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem.

The spark you have noticed, is most likely to be a blown capacitor. Since you have sound, my money would be on the sustain board(X-sus or Y-sus or both). Unplug the set, take off the back cover and tell me what you find. Get me part number off the board so that I can confirm if whether its the sustain board.

My plasma picture looks green

You are proberbly using RGB leads, wich is red green blue, each colour runs through each cable, have a look at your cables maybe one is loose, or damaged. check on both ends, but the cables MAY NOT be red green and blue, but the terminals that the plug into will be.

Hi i have a hitachi 55R80 lcd. I notice that along the bottom of the screen from the left there was a dark band which got lighter as it went across the screen. Late r the middle of the screen started to flicker. Now when i turn on the tv, the startup light comes on then gets lighter and now the screen is totally dark. I took it to two repair shops who keep telling me to buy a new tv because the screen is bad. Serial number: TH7HB08647

Replacement screen is required, so a new tv is probably cheaper.

My Hitachi model LE 32S406 shows a shadow 5 minutes after start up. it looks perfect when cold or right after start up

I am guessing it's an old(ish) TV. As a plasma the chances are that it is on it's way out.

Please Try new cables (HDMI etc)

You would need the remote control to select the MENU, then LANGUAGE.

Hitachi rear proj tv Channel Manager says " This Function is not available". How do I do a channel rescan?

First make sure that the current Source or Input is set to TV. This is usually the only reason for the error message you see. To select the source, look for a Source or Input button on the original remote. If you have an universal remote with a button with the Source/Input label, you may need to try alternative codes to make the button work. (Power and channel controls will often match across multiple codes for the TV manufacturer.) Alternatively, check if there is a Source/Input button on the TV or a section of the menu system with the function. Once you set this source, try again.

Note: there was a period when manufacturers sold some TVs without tuners. They were labeled HD-ready sets. These can't do a channel scan and do not have an RF antenna jack on the set.

Under Audio or Audio Settings on the on-screen menu, TV Speakers is set to On. All of the cables physically connected to the TV and the input devices are secure. Switch to a different input device and verify there is sound from the TV speakers (for example, a DVD player or a gaming console).

I hit the wrong button on the remote for my Hitachi flat-screen TV, which made 5 boxes appear on the bottom of the screen: HDML 1, Full HD Panel, Dolby Digital, etc. How can I make these go away?

The quickest way would be to turn TV off and then turn TV back on again.

Without a remote control, you can't unlock it. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
