Lexmark X1240 All-In-One InkJet Printer Questions & Answers
Lexmark X1240 starts to print then stops and job gets stuck in print queue.
If you are printing wireless thru a D-Link adapter, you are going thru too many connections. Let me explain: I have worked on electronics most of my life and the old saying goes, "the more breaks you have in a connection, the more chances you have that something, somewhere in between the breaks, will cause you to have more problems".
Go thru your Uverse directly with a RJ45 or CAT5 cable, if possible. If not, then hard wire it using a USB switch. This allows multiple devices to use the same printer.
Hope this helps.
My Lexmark x1240 won't print anything. I click on
uninstall the printer and reinstall it if it says it is printing to your printer. under printers your printer should be set as default. test by selecting print from the menu. it should come up to a screen showing you which printer you are printing to.

Printer
Hi,The steps below should help you override the error and make the printer accept the cartridges and allow you to print.Instructions
- 1
Remove and replace the print cartridge. If that doesn't solve the error, move on to Step 2.
- 2
Remove the print cartridge from the machine.
- 3
Wet the end of a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol.
- 4
Wipe the copper colored contacts on the print cartridge with the cotton swab to clean.
- 5
Wipe the contacts in the printer where the cartridge sits.

Printer not communicating with computer
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by
resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer
from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and
re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns
on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again
once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on
the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).
If that doesn't help, try the steps below:
- Disconnect the USB cable
connecting the printer from your computer.
- On your computer, go to Control
Panel > Printers and Faxes.
- Delete the Lexmark print
object.
- Reboot computer.
- Re-brick your printer by
pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged
into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
- When the printer turns on,
reconnect it to the computer.
- Wait until your computer fully
recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers
and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print
a document to verify that the problem is fixed.
