Hi, two things.. Either your remote needs new batteries, or you need to switch off your tele and allow it to reboot for a few minutes before switching it back on, I hope this helps

i had the same problem with one on my and found out it got toasted in a storm or when the power came back on. trashed it! good luck

Tuner may be fubar is the only logical explanation. Use external one. Repair not cost effective

I had an issue (OTA no audio in channel 2-1 and 11-1) on my Hitachi 42HDS69 so I tried to upgrade the firmware. The manual as well as the instructions on TV all state to use a MMC card. Someone on an internet forum also stated that a 7-pin MMC is needed. I tried exactly that but it did not work. Finally I tried a 128MB SD card and it worked like a charm. The firmware upgrade fixed my OTA audio issue. I went from V0108 to V0125.All you need to do is to extract out the .F02 file and place it in the root directory of the SD card.BTW, I did call Hitachi customer support. They refused to help due to the TV is too old (about 10 years old).I guess it all depends on who you speak to at Hitachi?!

all universal remote manufactures provide you with a setup guide to use their remote control. follow the instructions carefully and you'll be sitting pretty.

Depending on the TV model, there were some where the IR (Infrared) board inside the TV failed. It is not the remote that failed. You can test the remote by trying it at a Best Buy store on some of their TV's. If you are somewhat handy, you can easily remove the IR board and send it into a repair service that I located on E-Bay. There was repair service in Indiana and one in California. I sent it to the California and it came back in less than 1 week. I installed it and the TV works fine now.

I've owned a 42HDX99 since 2007, It's always been warm/hot. Still works/looks Awesome. Plasmas do generally run hotter than LCD/LED's. Also have a 58" Samsung Plasma ( which I've had to repair ) and a 2009 Toshiba 1080P LCD ( still works great )

Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Check the error codes on the digital board, which is visible through the grill in the back where the AC power entry is located. I was able to find one online for about $80 and replace it myself. Once you get the rear cover off the TV the digital board is easily accessible and took maybe 20 minutes to replace. Good luck!
