Fe-190 can't be detected as Imaging device

the fe-190 is only detected by the computer as a USB mass storage device and only allows you to download images from it. It can not be used as an imaging device when connected to the computer.

Cannot shoot videos direct-to-pc using Fe-190

the camera can not do that kind of functionality - it does not have the capability to be set up in any type of control mode. There are some Olympus cameras that allow for this unfortunately this model is not one of them.

Fe-190 can't be detected as Imaging device

If you are using a Windows computer 2000/xp/Vista
you need no software Windows has all the facilities it needs.
If the Computer cannot detect the camera when it is plugged in to the computer USB socket and switched on and set to up load.
Then there would appear to be a fault with the camera or battery.
I suggest you remove the card from the camera and try to get it read by a friend or processing station to establish if in fact the card has images/data on it.

No pictures

As long as the xD card was not formatted it is possible to recover the images that were accidently erased or appear to be lost. You can go to the following website link and download an image recovery software program that is free of charge.
http://www.z-a-recovery.com/
You want to download a program called Zero Assumption Recovery. It is a very simple program to use and users have had much success in recovering lost images.

Data recovery is a booming industry, and many appropriate services and software can be found by searching regional phone and business directories or the Internet for terms such as "image recovery" or "data recovery".

Olympus does not offer a data-recovery service and does not endorse any vendor that provides this or a similar service or product. In no event shall Olympus be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages of any kind (including, without limitation, loss of profits or loss of use) arising from the loss of data due to use of such services or products, whether or not Olympus shall be or should be aware of the possibility of such potential loss or damage.

My screen keep showing the Card Cover Open Error even though the cover is closed

The card door sensor is either damaged, failing or gone completely. You can take camera apart, (7 screws I think) take the back off. Sensor is at the back of camera near the battery door. If sensor is missing, you will see 2 spots on the electronics board where it was connected. Carefully melt solder so that those two points are connected. If sensor is still in place it's probably damaged. Carefully remove sensor using small snips or something like that, with out damaging anything around sensor. Then solder 2 points together. Good Luck

FE190 Olympus digital camera

This sounds to me to be a terminal problem with the sensor.  You will need to send this camera away to be repaired.

Lcd replacment screen

Your question is difficult to answer directly because it has a lot to do with experience. I have replaced 100s of screens over the years. For me it is relatively easy. If you haven't opened up one of these cameras before, it will be difficult. As long as you are careful, you should be able to replace the screen yourself. You will need to be careful not to tear any of the small ribbon cables inside.

Camera won't turn on

My daughter FE-190 just had the same problem. Make sure the little red tab is locked over the battery. Hers now works properly. I think it is possible with this camera to put in a battery and it NOT have good contact.

Hope that helps Brian

My camera is having problems turning on and off.

Hey Mimi_M,
I know you said you didn't damage the camera and it hasn't gotten wet or been exposed to sand or dirt, but the most common cause of these symptoms are that something is obstructing the movement of the lens such as sand or the lens mechanism is damaged. I would try blowing compressed air into the side of the lens in the hopes to dislodge anything that might be stuck in the lens. If this doesn't work I would have the camera looked at by an authorized repair technician such as bringing it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out to be seen by a technician. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Estimate Camera being sent of

Hey bryan163,
If the camera is not covered under any warranty a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store would charge $85 to send the camera out for service. Another option you would have is contacting the manufacturer and finding out if they have an authorized service center in your area. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

My camera isnt working

if the picture turns all white, then you might have a problem with the screen.
-or your're just aiming it at a bright object. (try covering the lens with your hand- dont actually touch it, just block out the light and if the screen goes dark then its still working)

if some sand or grit got inside your camera, then you have a serious problem, as sand is very abrasive, and could damage the internal mechnisims.

you should seek professional help on getting the inside cleaned out.

Lines appear on photo's.

Hey Tia Cindy,
If the lines are vertical that is often a result of taking pictures of very bright subjects. This is aberration is called vertical streaking. If the lines are horizontal lines there is probably something wrong with your sensor and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician such as bringing it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store, and they will send it out to have it looked at. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
