I found that the RCA Small Wonder is very touchy when it comes to batteries. My unit went out 2x on me and I almost there it out. First time for no reason except I tried to put videos on computer. 2nd time I put rechargable batteries that I asume we're to powerful for the unit. I let it sit for a while and put regular AcDelco batteries in it and it was fine.

YES, you have great possibility to get them recovered as long as if you take care.
Deleting files(such as videos or photos) from camcorder is just like clearing the recycle bin or Trash on your comptuter. The data itself isn't deleted, just the area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new data to be written there instead. The REAL data is still there. As a result a simple delete won't make your videos erased permanently.

Then you need opt for a third party data recovery software.

If you are running Windows, try this software(recover photos, VIDEOS and music)
For Apple Mac OS X, try this Mac data recovery software.

Install the program on your computer (choose the right version based on the operation system you are running), then connect your camcorder (memory card or HDD) to the computer and start to recover your deleted videos. I am sure you can operate the recovery on your own. Regards

If the video is stored to a memory card, you can use a memory card reader. It could be that the cable between your camera and computer is bad and should be replaced.

Do you have another USB port available?

If the space for your card is not deep enough, then you might have bought the wrong card. Make sure it's an SD card.

You can't. The slot on the top is for "authorized retailers" to dock the unit to create CD/DVD from the video.

I own one and also could've sworn the documentation (long gone) stated it could be used this way, but the RCA site says no.

Determine if you email provider has limit on file size. I use Yahoo and have no probelm sending small videos: 10 to 20 second videos. Large files are a problem for some email systems.

Question edited into written English with punctuation. The lens isn't black, the viewfinder is black. Connect it to a television or computer and see if playback and live recording is working. In that way you know the optics and the electronics are working. The viewfinder is a small LCD display screen with a magnifying glass in front of it. Take it to your local camera shop, they will know someone that still repairs these camcorders. Hi, You can first check for any debris in the video tape player and double check that no settings are stopping the tape from playing (ie a stuck rewind button) . Otherwise, please use the services of geeksquad/bestbuy to refurbish your vcr player. You might also check out BandH (?) video to see if they can refurbish your video tape player. Thank you.

Probably an age related issue. A repair is possible but not ecconomic.

I don't know anything about the vhs camera - other than they produce superior quality, when they work ok. It would be reasonable to assume the tape transport mechanism would be the same as in a vhs video recorder. I remember an engineer telling me there is a post or protrusion containing a light source and sensor that sometimes fails. The purpose of this is to detect a cassette has been properly loaded into the machine and if it isn't working the machine won't work or only partly work. I think the camera is worth saving but I strongly suggest such specialist equipment should be entrusted to a suitably experienced professional specialist.

I am sorry to say that it appears you may have answered your own question, the "hundreds of hours" is the clue. Consider the possibility that your camera is worn out. Sorry.

It appears to have a built-in USB connector, use that.
