It has bad capacitors on the power board. they cost about $20.00 . if you unscrew all the screws on the back of the tv and take off the metal back. You will see two capacitors that look like 2 fat batteries they are the color brown they will have a bulge at the top of the capacitor. the silver top will be rounded you can feel it with your finger. if you disconnect the power board and take it to the shop so they can replace the capacitors it will be a lot cheaper or if you know someone who knows how to solder who will help you that would be even better. un do the latches on the ribbon cable of the buffer board, pull the cable out then put back in as even as possible line it up good. Then grab the cable with both hands and push it in kinda hard, but careful. then close latch. do this to all three cables. play with it till all lines are gone.

If the set doesn't power ON, what is the use with a remote control? If it power ON properly, the power indicator light at its front panel will light up. Look for this. If it doesn't, make sure that you have got a set which has to be repaired. If it does power up, just get a remote control to operate it. OK.
