never flash BIOS or risk this., only flash if 1: THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH PC. 2: HP TOLD YOU the bios fixes this exact problem. 3; getting the correct bios for this pC can be difficult. 4: flashing with a dead battery can fail, 5: If the flash fails, try again. repeat the flash, 6: if the BIOS is now dead, take out coin cell for 15min. put it back see if BIOS key works now. and reflash it using only the correct new BIOS FLASH binary files only from HP and matching your exact unstated, service TAG data. (i bet you did not even look or get it right here, as many do , and then brick the PC) the touch page worked when new. so how can BIOS suddenly go bad?. (it cant) no windows OS stated if you are still running the correct OS on this G61. to make the pad work takes: 1: pad not damaged or cables inside not loose. 2: correct OS, that HP supports, (windows 10 may not be) 3: only HP version and disks loaded for OS and all drivers, not microsofts. 4: remove and load the correct mouse pad from HP. 5: bingo it works and no flash needed, nor desired ever or 99.9% of all cases. leave BIOS alone and win. is my motto. what G61, since you never said, my guess you dont know and if true, then how'd you get the correct bios. you didnt. (my guess and is right most times when bios mangles) here ill click 100 for your, my wild guess. it runs vista and w7 only, are you >? hp disks not MS? year 2009 made.(as old as....) see results in last photo. did you remove the DVD , from HP, in the drive, first.???? if not, the dvd can boot endlessly. id say HDD is bad, too never seen any this old still good, and vista is trash., looks like a 2006 , 11 year old laptop why not get a used 2010 or newer laptop and try it. used lap tops are cheap at Goodwill get a LT with at least windows 7, 64bit running, here is a test. learn to use a boot CD/DVD live OS. take any live boot CD (make one) for windows 7/8/10 or linux live CD. then boot the CD and run that slow OS off CD. easy as pie if you have a cd/dvd burner. (other puter in home) does the laptop run ok? now?. costs nothing to do this, but $1 media.max. if yes, then your HDD is bad. (my best guess) with the BOOT CD you can even run HDD tests. extensive tests in fact. all techs know how to do that. find one? other wise its a toss coin guess. what's up.

the coin battery as you referred to it as is called the cmos battery and it is responsible for the systems memory so things like time,date and bios settings best ensure that it is in good working order to avoid unnecessary problems it may be replaced with other batteries of the same type cr 2032 (3 volt) hope this helps

Inside there is an inverter power supply that supplies th high voltage needed for the backlight...the backlight is similar to a flourescent bulb in that it needs high voltage to startup...this power supply may have gone bad...you can try to look online at ebay to see if you can obtain a new power supply module..if you know someone who knows how to fix computers..they may be able to fix the module itself...some modules have fuses on them (but they are surface mount), sometimes they don't.

Unmountable boot volume means your harddrive has gone out.You will have to get a new one and load your os again.Sorry:-(

Guess you should change the battery of your pc as well as the adaptor. Please get the original.

Right click you Hard Drive Icon and select Disk Cleanup, Check everything in the check boxes that come up ams then go to the Tools tab and run the disk defragmenter.

The board on that laptop uses a traditional CR2032 battery. This battery you can find at almost any jewlers or electronics shop.

Now you knwo the battery type, and where in the board is located :)
As for how to access it I think this instructions (see step #13) are very similar for the C500 or given the physical similarities use the C300 instructions.

its not a power problem its a motherboard problem as there is power on board or lights would not come on at all . does the cpu fan spin up when trying to run it if not either the fan is gubbed or cpu is hope this helps missing screw poss in hd bay under the hd itself
