You could have damaged the player totally by this accidental plug in. The problem is that unless there is a protection of a reverse diode to short off the ipod can be finished off.
So open the ipod and take a test if there is any fusible link tha thas opened , then link it to short, if a diode has short remove and replace but if the mP is not working even with an established power into the player then we have a serious fault and can be irrepairable but with a high cost.

How to download videos onto coby without software

Hello,

For the MP610, use Coby Media Manager as the matching software, to get the fitting format for your player.

Coby Media Manager can be downloaded using next link:
http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=fix_mp822
Follow up the instructions for the download.
When running the manager in the top page setup your player
the MP610 AC or AL as your player: select Tools > Device Manager...
and Add>> yours.
Click on your player and go into Configure... to see the player's Synchronization setup and
Output file format: AMV for the AC and MTV for the AL version.

Can't get movies to play

Hello!

The error "Frame size too big." means that the video's Frame Rate is higher than the supported frame rate of your COBY MPC951. To fix this, you need to convert the video to run lower frame rate. You can use any video converter in the internet.

Cheers!

Simply not working

I'm afraid I don't have a solution. I will see if I can copy those files from my player to my computer, and then I might be able to email them to you.

The only comment I can make is once my player started recording when I turned it on and I discovered I'd plugged the headphones into the wrong hole in the top. I'd plugged it into the line in and I believe it was trying to treat my headphones as Microphones! ((It detected some small signal and started recording "automagically"))

I'll see if I can copy those files.

Have disc for windows 98 se

The Coby player recommends Windows Media Player 11 which can be downloaded from the windows site. I downloaded the files to my Linux machine on a USB stick and transfered them to my Windows machine which I keep isolated from the net. (Viruses and all.)

With WMP 11 the player is recognized right away, though remember to use the port numbered 2 for a complete sync with the program.

The unit also functions as a hard drive with any Windows system after 98, if you use the USB port marked 1. You don't actually need a driver disk unless your machine is running win98 or earlier. Using USB port one, you can just drag and drop mp3 files between windows. It works, I've done it, though once it did crash my computer. No harm done.

How to upload videos onto my Coby mp3

In reading my manual it states that the only supported video format is AVI (Xvid) There is a video conversion program on the drivers CD, but you can also download a newer version from CobyUSA.COM for free. I haven't tried it, but the firmware upgrade I did download from that site worked perfectly and loaded exactly as the manual described. Once This program is installed on your Windows machine and you import video files to it and then load them to your unit. I know this seems complicated, and it may not be necessary if your files are already AVI.

It isn't too much different from converting Wave files to MP3, though there is a learning curve. Take time and don't try to do everything at once. Download the program one day, read the manual the next, try converting a file the next. It just takes patience.

The Coby displays pictures just fine, both BMP and JPEG. Movies are always a little more complicated.

The volume no longer works on my Coby cxcd 248. There is no sound. At first I could jiggle the knob and the sound would come on but now nothing I do with the knob makes the sound work.

That could be bad soldering on the volume control. Especially if it did once connect moving the control. It's probably broken away from the solder track completely now.
