No, a GPS device will only receive signals from the satellites in space. A GPS will never transmit any signal to the satellites because it's a one way communication.If you have the serial number (you can find it on the device itself or on the box) you could go to the police and inform them your GPS was stolen and provide them your serial number. If you're lucky and the police finds a gang of thieves and they find lot's of stolen things, they will check the serial numbers through the police computer to check if they're not reported as stolen. Then there is a chance you will get your GPS back.

Power board is faulty, repair or replace. Workshop repair required. Oh, stop plugging a charger into the USB socket. It doesn'tlike it, thats for data transfer only. The round pin socket is the charger port

My tomtom rider 2 will not charge on my bike and will not charge from mains electric, when i use my tomtom in the car it works.

Theory 1: I wonder if it is due to condensation? Try warming it for a while with a hair dryer.
Theory 2: The power supply chip/ battery has died and in the process caused noise which made the screen switch.
Have you tried connecting it to your computer?

Have look through the tomtom forums but sadly I think your only option is to undo it and do some measurements starting with the battery. It's worth disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to see what happens.
Not a fix but best I can do with no further info.

Reset the device.

Search for"reset" on this site, or find out how in your manual. This has worked for some.

My Rider 1 is showing the same sympton. Was working fine now I can't get past the initial "Tomtom" screen.

Does it power up when connected to the mains charger?- No, need to prod reset and then turn on manually.
Does it switch on when connected to the bike cradle? - No, only sign of life if by manually turning on but only get as far as the Tomtom screen, not the main menu.

Any ideas welcome

the operating system software of your unit has been affected, that's why its malfunctioning. You need to install the firmware update for your device and by so doing, it will reinstall the bad or corrupt operating system files that has been affected.

Sounds like there is an increase sensitivity of your on/off switch or an issue with your casing. If tomtom doesn't repalce it under warranty. There is a third party tomtom Repair service that will replace the logic board and a tomtom repair guide if you want to replace it yourself, the screen is available on ebay.

The batteries are only small in these units and only require 1 maybe 2 hrs charge, so if it has been on charge all night there is a fair chance it has cooked the battery.

You can go to a bearing supplyer as they sell O Rings as well or they can sell you the round rubber and you can make your own O Ring just use some super glue to join the rubber together.

Super Glue. OR contact Garmin, and get a replacement.

You can purhcase the new TomTom Rider 2 map update for $79 from TomTom.
If you have your receipt as proof of purhcase, you maybe able to take it back to the retail store you purhcased it from and see if they can assit you with TomTom.
Contact TomTom customer support directly to see if they can assist you also.

TOMTOM are VERY aware of this problem. but deny it is an issue!
I had the same problem, they sent me a new shoe after weeks of emails. I told them that the shoe is not the problem, it's the connector on the back of the TT1. Because of the springloaded pins fitted to the shoe and the poor quality connectors on the TT the normal vibration on a motorcycle causes the pins to wear holes in the connectors on the TT causing intermittant connection.
As the cost of repairing or replacing these connectors is very high and there are a large number of units that would require this repair TT are ignoring it.
I'm now looking at a way of bypassing the connector altogether.
A temporary solution appears to be to smear the contacts on the back of the rider with a little petroleum grease or WD40 - seems to work for a couple of weeks at a time.

Did you find a bracket of the Tom Tom Rider 2 on the Burgman 650

I would be enclined to reccomend the Garmin product for GPS..
Built better,, better mapping and better all around product..

i have the tom tom rider 2 its a great bit of kit but i disconnected the scala cardo headset for helmets so that i cold try a different bluetooth headset for use in a car and it didnt work i then tryed to recconect it to my tom tom and it cant find it when searching for it what do i do ? what have i done?
