Monitor only lights for a couple of seconds

These monitors have problems with bad capacitors, transistors and inverter boards. This is a common problem with all monitors. If you are comfortable taking the monitor apart, you should inspect the capacitors to see if any are swollen. If they are, you might try replacing them. If you are not comfortable with taking it apart I would recommend taking it to a reputable repair person. If it is capacitors or transistors, the repair could be cheaper than a new monitor. If it is the inverter board, depending on the cost of the inverter board, it mat be cheaper to just get a new monitor.

I am having trouble when I first turn monitor on.

m_v_schwartz, Best guess is problem with unit's "switch-mode-power-supply" / "CCFL inverter supply" has a bad "cold" or "frosty looking" solder joint (thermally intermittant solder connection) on the printed circuit board!!! Unit WILL NOT fix itself!! Only you or a qualified electronics technician will fix it. Use your warranty first if valid option!!!! See more of my responses to other LCD black screen symptom OWNERS that I have replied to in my fixya profile. Know and understand the "FLASHLIGHT TEST" that every LCD owner should know how to perform when "black screen" shows up. If this response steers you in right direction, please return to rate this response on fixya. FYI, Also visit web sites I have mentioned in the other responses in profile. Good luck with the repair. 12fixlouie

Black screen with power switch flashing blue.

I have been same problem but in other type syncMaster, the solution is open your LCD monitor look for power supply module (PCB which have connector to AC power), on that PCB look for capacitor , for normal condition its look like small tube. now look for broken one which upper part is bloated.

Cant get size from display settings for external

See if you can pull up the menu on your monitor. If you can reset it to factory defaults.

If you still can't see the screen properly then you need to on your computer. Go into the device manager and make sure its seeing your video card properly. Look underneath display adapters and be sure its seeing something other then standard display vga.

If not then your display adapters are missing so once you install those, the computer will recognize your monitor.

Monitor blinks on and off repeatedly when turning it on.

Try another monitor on the computer, if the same thing happens with the 2nd monitor then the video card is the problem, if the problem doesn't happen then you know that the original monitor is the problem.

If the original monitor is the issue. If your handy, take the back off of the monitor and there will be a power board and a main board.

Look on both boards and there will be capacitors with a silver top on them. Good capacitors will have a flat silver top. Bad ones will have a puffy top or will be leaking from the bottom of the capacitor or the top of the capacitor.

If you see this make sure you replace them with the same UF rating and the volts can be the same or higher and they can only be put on witht the striped side facing the colored side on the board.

Samsung syncmaster 711p power issue

Its a general fault however all these units are under a 3 year warrantee the dates printed on the back, just call 08706010309 speak to a service engineer and they will arrange a swap out within 5 working days, no need to a receipt as they can tell the units age from the serial. the replacement will be under the same 3 years cover in my case it was for another 6 months

The screen has went into a very bright high contrast

Hello,

The issue you have is caused by a defective power supply. If you can solder you should be able to repair the monitor yourself. The problem is caused by blown capacitors on the power board. Go to our web site at : www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have pictures of what to look for. Open your monitor and look at the power supply board for any blown capacitors, replace all that you find. The replacement parts can be ordered from several places on the internet or we can supply them for you. The replacement parts will need to be high temp and will be marked 105c. The values you need to get will be marked on the sides of the ones you take out but will be something like 220uf, 470uf, or 1000uf etc. and then a voltage rating. When you install the new ones be sure to insert them with the polarity stripe going the same direction as the old ones come out. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for $35 plus return shipping. If you have any questions just let us know

I hope this helps if so please rate our solution.

My monitor now has a blue tint to it

Looks like u have lost one or more of the color channels (RGB) make sure the video cable is plugged in securley (both ends computer and monitor) and locked down with the screws, restart the computer and monitor. If this fails check video card and then monitor, can u plug the monitor into another computer this will determine if the monitor is ok or not. If monitor is ok then problem most likley will be the video card.
