Transferring pics to computer
If you have Vista Home you will have to purchase from windows shop CinePlayer D.V.D decoder
for Windows Vista at about $17.00 to play your finalized disc I also advise anyone who wants to
dub or take out any sections to do it on your computer as you may loose all movies and pictures like
I did of our trip to Canada .

The DVD must have being finalized in the camcorder before you can use it on your system and Do not use an 8cm CD adapter with the 8cm DVD. Doing so may cause a malfunction. If the DVD-ROM drive does not support an 8cm disc,
Can not finalize
Hi, Initially I had the same problem with the finalization process. But then i took off the battery pack and connected to the mains and immediately when i switched on the camcorder again, the ' Finalize ' button was highlighted i.e enabled. I continued with the finalization process and everything was fine. Was able to playback the mini dvd on a very cheap dvd player and also on a computer.
Also be sure to put the camcorder on play mode by sliding down the switch button to mode. You immediately notice that a little green button near play will light up
Finalization
Plug the mains into your camera; finalize is not an option on bettery power
Not able to finalise the Disk
Just try this make sure you put it in playback mode and make sure its plugged in your adaptor.. I guess they don't want to risk running out of battery during finalization (may stop the disk)
put it in playback mode then presto the option comes up so make sure you put it in playback mode by pressing down on the on/off button. In my conclusion to finalize the disk you need 2 things: First make sure you are in the play mode and second plug in your power supply
hope this may help;

if you are using a -r disc finalize should appear in menus-if using -rw may not appear because rw's don't always have to be finalized to play in things beside camcorder- -r can not delete anything on them either they only record exactly as you are recording

Transfer from my canon dc210 to my pc
If you can play the DVD disc on your computer you will be able to transfer footage and edit it.
Put the DVD disc into your PC's DVD drive, then
1. Select 'start'
2. Select 'My Computer'
3. Find your PC's DVD drive in the display of devices shown, right click on it, then left click on 'Explore' in the drop down list.
4. Copy all the files you see shown with the 'Explore' option to a folder on your hard drive.
You can now use the software you normally use to edit the files you've just transfered to your hard drive.
Get photos and videos onto the disk
You should only have to finalize the disc and then it will work in your PC, you need DVD playback software to play it. If its a dual layer disc your, DVD drive in your pc needs to be able to play dual layer.

Freezing
Although this is not the solution you are looking for. I have seen alot of problems like this involved with the DVD cameras. It doesnt take much to mess it up like when it finalizes. If you can still return it doe that. You could possibly go through the warranty. If this isn't what you wanted to hear please disregard.
Good luck,
Lee
Grainy videos
Most likely you need a head cleaning tape. Or a professional "tune up".
Hope this helps,
