Could be a dirty lens on the laser pickup. A disc cleaner won't do the job and you'd probably have to take it apart and do it manually. Better idea is you can get a new Blu Ray player for next to nothing these days.

If you're using the antenna socket in the house, the socket could be bad or the antenna needs replacing. It may also depend on what the general TV reception is like in your location.

Have you tried programming the DVD player remote to your tv?
