Good day, Before scanning make sure your machine and computer are correctly connected with the usb cable. Also check the the printer port settings by click start/control panel/printers and other harware and then printer and faxes. select the icon and open file menu and select properties. click the [port] tabto confirm the settings. (CanonMP180/MP160) (where n is a number) is indicated. If the port setting is not correct, reinstall the MP driver.

the pixma range need to have the chips reset or refilled before they become empty.

Put in a genuine cartridge and it should work. Buy a set of cartridges with dummy chips that allow the printer to use refilled cartridges.

You will have to remove every speck of paper that caused the jam in the first place. Look real closely and you will probably find paper lodged in remote places. Use a small flashlight and examine the printer

Throw away the refilled cartridges. Using original cartridges is the wise solution.

You need to reset the waste ink counter.

* Connected Printer to a Power source, Turn off the printer if printer on
* With the Printer power off, press the Power button while press and hold Stop/Reset button.
* When the Power led is light, press Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
* When releasing the Power button and the Stop/Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
* When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button four times to reset the ink. (Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange and green, starting with orange).
* Press on button
* Unplug cable power from a power source.
* Then plug back in and power up the unit.
