Solution:

1. Open the start menu and right click on My Computer 2. Click on properties 3. Locate and click on the "Hardware" Tab of the system properties window that pops up 4. Find the button that says "Device Manager" 5. When you do this, another window will pop up with a list of all of the hardware installed inside of your computer, you should see the Sansa Express somewhere in this list with the yellow exclamation mark. 6. Right-Click on the Sansa Express and click on "Update Driver" 7. When the next window opens up, instead of allowing it to search automatically, click on "Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced)" and click next 8. On the next window, click on the last option "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" and click next 9. When I did this, it had two options listed. MTP Device and USB Mass Storage Device. If you see these options highlight the USB Mass Storage Device and click next. It should install Immediately!! I sincerely hope this helps anyone, I searched and searched on line for an answer, and I couldn't come up with anything. I fiddled around with it for a long time.

MODES in Sansa c250

I understood regarding the Modes. But, How can we change the mode intentionally? I feel like the software (01.01.05P) in my player does not have this option under SETTINGS. Is there any other option to switch MODES?

Once you turn on the player it should take you to the last place you were, usually playing a certain media file. I have heard about this model, however I havent used it, but in its bigger brother breifly pressing the power button takes you to the modes menu, give it a go on ur player.

Sansa C250 not recognised

Hi - After plugging my c250 into my laptop it comes up with a window saying connecting to MTP media player. From this it gives the option to transfer using windows media player or take no action. I selected the media player option.

However after looking at the drives on my pc the C250 doesn't appear. I took a look at the device manager and it appears there and I'm told that the device is working properly.

I also noticed that on the C250 there is no option in the settings menu for USB.

The laptop is running XP professional.

Pete.
BTW this has happened on at least 1 other PC I tried connecting to!

The Sansa C250 doesn't have a setting on the player to put it into USB, or MSC mode.

By default, it's always in MTP mode (Microsofts slow and crappy DRM enabled protocol).

You can force the player to connect to your computer by doing these 3 things:

1. Ensure that your player is OFF.

2. Set the Hold slider to LOCKed.

3. While holdind the "<<", (LEFT or Previous) button down, connect the c250 to your computer via the USB cord.

You should now see 2 new drives in your "My Computer" window. One drive is the c250's internal memory, and the other is it's microSD slot.

Use your Sansa Media Converter. It is the disc that came with your player. Install it. After you have installed it, connect your player and open up the program.

Go to "Add Media" on the Sansa Media Converter, locate your pictures on add them individually or as a whole group. You can do the same with videos. You can edit, change the name, etc. with the pictures using this program as well. Just look at the left panel.

After you have all the pictures ready, hit "Convert" you media will be converted to the right format AND transferred onto your player. Enjoy.

Look here for how-to videos: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.asp (Under "Sansa Media Converter" option 2. Hope this helps P.S. Please rate accordingly Thank you Computerrep

The media device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected

I recently bought a refurbished Sansa c250 from Woot! It looks very nice and everything but when I open My Computer/Sansa c250/Internal Memory and try dropping a song, a "Error Copying File" pops up and says "Cannot copy [song name].mp3: The media device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected. Is this because I bought a refurbished and it's broken? Or what am i doing wrong?

I am sure my sansa is still connected.

Make sure you're not using the media with another program while you attempt to copy/sync it to your device.

Pretty late response, but meh.

The hardware might be damaged/faulty - call Sandisk and find out if you are still in warranty.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Left side of earphones don't work

I have new earphones for my Sansa c250 that were working. I plugged into the jack at the gym to watch TV while on stairmaster and when I plugged back into mp3 player, the left side doesn't work. They work on other audio devices, and other headphones have the same problem on the player, so I know it's not the earphones. Anyone know a fix without buying a new player?

I have the same problem as well. you just have to take the headphones out, and not put them in all the way. just put them in partway, wait until you can hear out of both.
