Yes , it is possible but you must be able to remove the freezer compartment to see if the frost has bitten into or if the frost has worned out the wires. If fan is not working then replace but if frost has build up defrost and check after shutting off fridge ffor some hours. If the frost builds up then there is a fault with the auto defrost timer, check also the heater.
Check also the vent for free flows of the fans blowing.

open the freezer door if you don't hear the evaporator fan running that may be you problem, if the back wall of the freezer is frosted , you may have a defrost problem, timer, bimetal or element

it could be a defective damper vent door,( frozen shut from condensation) between the freezer and refrigerator,the motor that opens and closes this door,or a thermistor in the refrigerator that signals the control board in the rear of the unit to operate the damper vent door motor to open and close this door

either the evaporator coil behind the freezer compartment wall is iced over and you can';t move cold air over an iced up evaporator coil to cool the refrigerator compartment or the compressor relay/overload is bad

replace the p.t.c. overload on the compressor body of the units compressor in the rear lower end of the unit,its not letting the compressor start and then not cooling

try turning the thermostat up a little,,,if this dont work you may have busted the compresor,,,after all the fridge was only made to keep a small space cool,,,,not the hole house!

replace the defrost element ..and check the defrost timer

If there is frost on the wall of freezer, you have a defrost problem, and not enough air is circulated due to frost build-up. If no frost and all fans and compressor is running, you have a sealed system failure. Time to replace refrig.

Be sure circuit in house is not the problem. Use extension cord to plug into outlet in another room.

Mike I just want to be sure I understand you correctly. Does it sound as if the icemaker is turning? Or the parts in the dispenser door are making the noise? What sort of noise?. If it's a buzzing noise, it could possibly be the hot gas solenoid is still energised, thus defrosting the ice frame.
