here is what you should have. you cant mix mem types. you are suppose to have what is listed below. maximum amount is 2 gig. have to be pc2100 which is ddr-266

open the machine up and locate the BIOS battery. it is a small round flat battery. take it out for 20 mins and then put back in and try starting up again

Hi - If no one has helped you yet, I have the same computer and I was able to find all drivers for it at Compaq's website. Here is a link for the modem driver, select your OS and you should be able to download with no problem. Good luck!

Windows 7 should be the OS. If you go to safe mode, it should complete booting and then you can list the errors but I suspect there is a driver error. Maybe the wrong version in there.

It is 22 years old and there is not support for the virus magnet that is called Windows XP!
