Did you ever get an answer. I also cannot get the bucket off.

depending on the year of your machine, assuming it is the serenity blue, it may be the circuit board on the unit itself. The manual switch "should" start the machine, but if not it will be the circuit board inside the main unit.

however....
if your unit is the green one, it may be the motor inside the unit and/or the circuit board. Hard to say. I do not think that it is the motor as the circuit breaker should have popped out if it was the motor.

Regardless of the colour of the unit, if it is 5-7 years old or less, the unit should still be under warranty. home service calls and labour to install the motor would not be covered.

may have over heated. i'd check for clog in hose before i did anything else

It is possible that it is a bad switch/circuit board on the unit. If your unit is less than 7 years old that should also be covered by warranty (manufacturer) however an in home service, should you require someone to come to the house will not be covered.

grab hold of the two grips on the left and right, left is towards the back and right is towards the front. you will be twisting the pail (right side) from the standard 3oclock position to the 5 oclock position there. the cannister should just fall off the bottom then.

if your meaning the cannister from the wall....
disconnect the pipe going into the side of the machine, unplug the machine remove the 2 low voltage wires from the side and then lift the machine up and off the wall.

So did the filter itself come with it, or just the finger loop broke off and the filter is stuck in there? :(
