Hey i just bought an 160 GB Seagate SATA HDD but after i connect it to my motherboard it's unable to detect it I don't even get it in the BIOS I booted from my WIN XP CD and it says no HDD atached Pl help :(
Check the SATA/RAID controller setting. It could have been set to [Disabled] Refer to your user?s manual for a detailed description on how to enable the onboard SATA/RAID controller by adjusting the jumper or BIOS settings. Regards SparkGap

i'm sorry, but to whoever proposed going to the Asus website, please note that everything there is available for download EXCEPT the makedisk RAID drivers.... as anyone tried with a 3rd party software or knows an alternative to this problem ?

The motherboard does not see my sata drives when set to raid in the bios. I have download the updated intel drivers and the JMicron JMB363 driver from the support CD and installed at the F6 prompt, and still no drive is recognised.
I have tried with a single drive connected, and also a mirror array with two. Computer works fine in IDE mode, but I bought this board because it does raid...
ASUS are impossible to contact as their website doesn't recognize my serial numbers. Have they a bad reputation?
Thank you for this wonderful service. I've practically been in tears over this!!
you have to ensure that you are using the correct SATA drivers from the disk at F6.....You are on the right track. but I am not sure you are using the correct driver at F6
If memory serves there should be a RAID configuration notice during boot, I think you configure there (not in the windows install)
it is similar to how you get into BIOS, you need to configure this RAID module first, as it will then present the RAID protected volumes to Windows Setup (you will most likely still need the J micron Driver too)
I think that as this has not been configured that is why it is not showing up in the windows setup (as you have not created any volumes for windows to see)

ASUS P5RD1-VM : while trying to install the LAN drivers I get always the request for ulilan51.sys which can not be found
I tried also the uli drivers to install from ASUS but this quite don't solve the problem
If the lancard is built in to the mainboard then you should install the chipset of the motherboard so that all the hardware can be detected.
The dirver is encloased in you computer from the vendor, you should install that at series so that there is no issue encountered, thanks maynthis help.

My mainboard is ASUS P5RD1 and with HDD ATA I used normal, everything ok, but when I use HDD SATA (only 1 HDD) and setup new windows (windows XP), I can't boot into CD or HDD for setup windows, I tried use Ctrl + A to utility Uli Raid Bios v1.13 to setup but I can't use anything on it.Please help me.
Things need to be turned on in your bios patrohi. This is why windows didn't boot to the SATA. You need to use your manual & make sure the, Serial ATA Controller is [Enabled]
Within the Advanved menue under SouthBridge Configuration.
At the Main menue the SATA drive should be listed.
Boot settings need to change as well. At Boot Settings Configurations. Make sure your SATA drive is listed.
Boot order should list like, Floppy 1st, CDROM 2nd, SATA 3rd. The SATA will not list as a SATA but the model number of the SATA drive. Once all these settings are set save & exit. Your drive should show up for work & the windows CD should load.

Hi sheikhun, just ignore windows F6 to add special SATA drivers. Install windows, when finished use your Asus CD and install missing drivers from CD. Than run windows updates.
You should not have a problem, if while in your bios your SATA drive is shown in the main menu. Than check the Boot section of bios. The boot order should be.
CDROM drive 1st. SATA drive 2nd.
Disconnect any other hard drives data cable while installing windows. When you finish installing windows & installing the drivers from the CD & windows updates you can shut down the PC & reconnect the data cables you may have disconnected.
If your bios does not see your serial ATA SATA drive than your SATA onboard controller is defective. Return to Asus for replacement/repair.

hello
Hi rafiisak,
There is no need to turn off the SATA controller if your only going to run IDE's. To set your IDE drive to function as primary master you'll need to have the IDE drive listed in the Boot order sequance.
However if you wish to turn off the onboard serial ATA SATA controller anyway open your manual to
section: 2.4 Advanced menu page 2-17 & open Onboard Devices Configuration than open SouthBridge Configuration page 2-24. Serial ATA Controller, set to [Disable]
Have any more troubles post it here.
Good luck!

I have an ASUS P5GD1-VM motherboard that is not booting when I turn on. It's not even showing anything on the screen and the green light is on. I tried doing what tech-support told me to do like hooking up the power supply, power supply switch and speaker and see if it will beep and it does not beep but the cpu fan is on. I have never used this board that's why it is so frustrating because it is new but unfortunately the warranty has expired. Any suggestion would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give me.
First are you sure it is the CPU fan and not the Power Supply fan? Open up the case and make sure the power supply cable is snug into the slot. Make sure that Pin 1 is lined up with Pin 1 on the motherboard. There should be a notch or red dot or different looking Pin to show you where pin 1 is...sounds like it may be a connection problem from power supply to motherboard...try that and let me know what happens we have other options but have to start somewhere..
