I got a problem with

leave the chip alone. the a8n is old, not new it is 2005 mobo, 12 years old you buy it. as new and seller lied to you as most do now. fleabay. the coin cell is bad. on mobo bios is NOT bad but I bet now you wrecked the BIOS. not told at all if using PATA IDE drivers 20 years old or modern SATA drives 2001 and newer. nor if you ran SATA hdd smart test first, if fails no oS on earth can run on any bad HDD, of any kind. leave bios alone (means do not flash or replace the chip) there are 10versions of the A8N mobo if the wrong flash BIOS is used you bricked it and I bet you did. next time learn to ask , how to test a hDD first for sure relics LIKE THIS.

Installing NVidia 8500GT XFX 256MB graphics to A8N-VM Motherboard

The chances are that you have an old motherboard which is not compatable with the new graphic card. Or you may be running windows 98 and are downloading the driver for xp or visa versa. The probable solution, will be to sell the new card on ebay and buy the best old card you can off ebay. Or just make do with the card you already had in your computer. If you are determined to have a better graphics card. A motherboard upgrade with better graphic card may be the best answer or buy a better spec pc second hand if you don't have much money. You'll probably waiste a lot of time trying to get the new card to work and it probably never will.

Usb ports not working

All the USB ports were working before he installed SP3 and rebooted. After that only the mouse/keyboard ports worked. Same thing happened to me. No other changes were made, so something added/change by SP3 is the culprit.

Questions is...what did SP3 do to break USB and how to fix it?

When I insert an IEEE Graphics card all the video

Hi there, The problem is most likley that you have placed your video card wrong into your motherboard,
Soloution 1:Open up your pc(make sure its powered down to avoid casualties) and look for your card and make sure its inserted properly to your PCI express board...

Soloution 2: MAke sure your motherboard is compatible with your graphics card and that you have the latest windows(or whatever Operating system you are using) up-to-date with ALL latest downloads..

System Restart regularly

Sounds to me like your power supply may be failing or loose connections.

You don't mention if you're overclocking the CPU. Double-check the BIOS settings to make sure things are set properly.

Another thing to check is if the CPU is overheating. Make sure the heat sink is still firmly attached to the CPU and that the CPU fan is operating.

Is the ASUS A8N-VM PCI Express 2.0 compliant?

not that I know. It may support newer pci-express graphic cards, but surely they won't run at full-power with pci express 1.0 lower specs. if you're not satisfied with your motherboard, you should buying a new one that supports pci-express 2.0

Distorted no one can hear me

You can try grabbing new drivers, see if that helps.

If you're trying to use on-board sound for voice chat, or gaming, it will only be a headache. Go grab a reputable $50 sound card, the audio in on the on-board just doesn't cut it.

Integrated Visual (VGA).. Not sending signal

One never knows what settings the manufacture set the board to. So clear your bios. See the page 1-16 in your manual. Doing this should reset the bios to default settings. The onboard VGA graphics controller should send video to your monitor. If you still don't receive display the problem is with the bios or the graphics controller. Your board is no longer warranted. However you can buy an updated bios chip from Asus. Call 812-282-2787 M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM. Have your serial number ready. You'll find that number on a sticker over the LPT port. I already went to Asus online estore to see if they had a new bios but no such luck;

Good luck!

I have no signal to my monitor

If you have no signal to your monitor, ther are generally three parts that can cause this: the monitor, the DVI/VGA cable (from PC to monitor) or the graphics card. If I were you I'd try to replace those first, then the motherboard. I'm sure there still are socket 939 motherboards out there, so you will not have to replace memory or processor. Just let someone at a local computer store take it apart, install the hardware on a new motherboard, put the harddisk in the system and reinstall Windows.
(the latter because drivers for the old motherboard may conflict with the new ones. If you don't have any problems with that, don't)

I hope this helps,
