You know those two plugs that are plugged into your MB.
When on the board they close the circuit.
Now Sometimes there are schematics that tell you which one to jumper, but that takes research and the model of your supply

Anytime you see a Green wire in a computer, (Personal Computer), power supply's ->power cable, it is for the Soft Power On function.
This way there isn't a cable, (Cord), going from the Power On switch to the power supply.
These are ATX style of power supply's.

The Black insulated wires are Ground wires. ALL of them.

There was a older power supply made, and this was the AT style.

To provide a solution, I'm going to give you some information on the power cables, for Both of these styles of power supply's, then some advice.

1.This is info, and photos of the older AT power supply's power cables,
http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#oldpc

2.This is the newer ATX style power cable, and more specifically the 20-pin version,
http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atxmain20
Scroll down the page to view the 24-pin power cable, and then scroll down some more, to view the 20+4-pin power cable.

ALL ATX design power supply's use Pin 16 for PS ON, (Soft Power On), which is a Green wire, and ANY Black wire. ALL Black wires are a ground. Pin 15 has a Black wire, and is normally used to put a jumper in, from it to Pin 15. This turns the power supply on. There will be a small spark, and the chance of getting shocked.

What you are doing essentially, is using a personal computer power supply as a laboratory power source, therefore I cannot advise you further, as it is a Safety Hazard.

Remove the battery & try to power the laptop up using the AC power. If the error message disappears, then you will have to replace your battery with a new one.

Latitude D505

Just repaired a laptop with the same symptoms:
Won't charge the battery, won't power from AC.
Also if you power the AC adapter when not connected to laptop you get green power LED on the adapter. When you plug it in the laptop the green power LED immediately goes out.

Opened it up and found SO-8 P-ch mosfet by the DC input socket. Source (pins1,2,3) is connected to the inner barrel (+19.5V), Gate 4 gets driven low, applying the input to the Drain. (pins 5,6,7,8) On my board the drain was short to GND. Applying power directly to the Drain via a current limited bench PSU (set 1A limit) showed a couple of volts.

Placing a finger on the opposite side of the board revealed a SMT ceramic cap getting hot.
CP13 I think. Opposite side to the power connector, almost under it. I would guess at 1206 or slightly larger and there is an 0402 cap just next to its bottom pad at 90 degrees to it. Cap was glued before soldering so had to flow both sides at the same time with a soldering iron and force off. Would likely have been 1uF or bigger 25V. Removal restored operation. Runs OK without but would suggest putting something in there 0.1uF 1206 50V, perhaps a couple stacked ?

BTW you have to strip down everything and remove the main board to get to the cap :-(

Hope this info is of use....

Dell power Supply has won't work

Hi, all power supply's have a fuse in them, remove the power supply, open it up and study the printed circut board, you will see either a white ceramic or glass fuse attached to it. Replace this and reasemble it then re-install it into your computer and then test it. If you still have no power then you will have to replace the unit as the costs of repair are far greater than a new one. Goodluck, mistyman

I want to know about some adventures video games?

Check out Big Fish Games. It is a subscription service but they have all types of games including adventure and hidden object. You can also tryp Pogo since they have both a fee and subscription service. Last, but not least, you can try one of your local computer stores or the electronics section of "big box" stores like Target, Walmart, Kmart, etc.

I've got a dell inspiron 20 model 3052 series how do you reset it to factory settings or reset the password thought it was a monitor any help would be very greatfull!

Unfortunately, resetting a Dell Inspiron 20 model 3052 series to factory settings requires you to use a recovery disk or USB drive, as the system does not include a built-in resetting option. To reset your password, you will need to use a password or recovery disk. You can create a password or recovery disk using the Dell Support website.
