How to setup
Plug your DSL cable in your router's WAN or DSL port and then you power ON your router.
My Cnet CNIG-914 router doesn't give internet connection
There are several possible problems. Do you receive an IP address from the router? To find out, open the command prompt (Start > Run, type in command , and at the prompt enter (without quotes) "ipconfig".
If you have an IP address, try unplugging the router and your modem for 2 minutes. Power on the modem first, and wait for alll lights to stop their startup flashing and testing pattern (1-2 minutes is usually good), then plug the router in.
If you do not recieve an IP address (if your IP address is 169.x.x.x that is most likely the case) then the router is not giving you one. reset it to factory defaults, and follow the instructions to set it up again.
Try those and let us know how it works out for you.
Firmware Upgrade
Unfortunately, a failed firmware upgrade is the one thing you can't recover from. The only reset available on these devices is just going back to the original factory configuration. If the base software itself has been corrupted, then I'm afraid there is no way to recover. If the device is still under warranty, contact the vendor to arrange a replacement, or bring it back to the store from which you purchased it.
Why its working with some ISP's and does not work with other ISP
ISP's have different requirements for connecting a router to their hardware. One required me to enter a static IP address, another requires acceptance of a dymanic IP address and a third uses dynamic IP addresses and requires a PPPoE logon from the router and a configuration change to their modem to switch it to a bridge, and a fourth I have read about require a reboot of their modem device to recognise changes in the MAC address (assigned to the network adapter) of the attached device (router). I am sure these are not all the variations possible, Requirements for router connections specifically the WAN side of the router are specific to your ISP. Often in their help or support areas they either have FAQ's or help pages to explain the requirements or an online technician available through chat who can tell you what is required. Often however it is up to you to be able to perform then necessary configuration tasks (especially on you hardware) to make this happen. I may be able to provide assistance of you identify you internet provider including local provider companies and geographic location (city / State) in some cases to determine their policies and requirements for attaching routers to their equipment.
Having major problem Connecting
Check with your routers settings that automatic DHCP is enabled, as this will allocate each laptop an individual IP Address.
Also go to network connections in control panel and right click on your network card (not the wireless card, if you have inbuilt wireless), and make sure they are set on both laptops to 'automatically assign IP Address'.
Also ensure that your wireless network cards are dissabled if you have them; as this can confuse laptops as to which network you wish to connect to, even if your router isn't wireless, it will be looking for a connection.

Cnet cgs-2400 fan replacement
it's really not worth the trouble of replacing the fan, but if you really want to fix it then you can just expose the motherboard and use a regular fan on it's highest settings (make sure nothing can mess with the router, little kids and pets might play with it).
Give password
The router password can be change if you try inputting 192.168.0.1 in the command line of the Internet Explorer.
You may need another set of numbers if the router is other than a Cisco product. It could be 192.186.1.1 or 192.168.1.0 also.
You did not specify what Router you were using?
