Please elaborate! I'm unsure if your A/C will not change temperature without the remote. Some units have a "lock" which if set, will keep the unit at the same temperature & if it's only not working with your remote, my guess is that your remote is bad or the batteries are dead or placed in it incorrectly (or may have leaked & ruined the remote.)

So I'm assuming your house is 1200 to 1500 sqft?? Why is unit freezing?? Is the filter clean, vents open, blower motor running?? What's the Static pressure on the system?? Magnetic clutch on compressor is probly bad or the whole pump,fuse or wiring .

could be the room sensor or pipe sensor got jacked out from the board. check if any loose connections exists.

most of the 'e' codes point to the room sensor or pipe sensor being defective.
