My microwave/convection oven (a GE unit model

The technical sheets in my files do not list F6 on the error code chart for GE microwaves.

Generally, these are the error codes possible on GE microwaves:

F1 open thermal sensor (convection models)
F2 shorted thermal sensor (convection models)
F3 key panel shorted for more than 60 seconds
F4 open humidity sensor
F5 shorted humidity sensor

There should be a "mini-manual" (technical sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Convection oven doesn't heat

Possible that the relay is faulty or there is fault on the control panel. It can also be related to problems on the thermocouple or sensors which can cut off prematurely the element.

The magnetron is probably shorted, considering prices of parts, a new replacement would be more practical.

Jes1290 microwave runs but no

Hi, if it keeps running when the door is open, that's usually due to a bad door switch or broken / loose door switch mount. You just need to fix the door switch or door switch mount to solve the problem....

Where is the fuse located?

If the model number is correct, there is a small input line filter board with a 125V, 20 AMP line fuse inside the microwave. Its usually mounted on a small input line filter board at the point where the power cord enters the back of the unit. You will need to UNPLUG the microwave oven and remove the exterior case to access. The case comes off in various ways depending on manufacture and model. I found this illustration at pcappliancerepair.com based on the model number you listed this question under:

http://pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php

The line filter is listed as item 1420. The fuse will be mounted to this board.

You can purchase replacement fuses at any hardware store. You can usually purchase a box of fuses at a hardware store for just a little more than what the manufacturer charges for a single fuse. 125V, 20AMP Slow Blow fuses are recommended.

If you have any questions, or need assistance troubleshooting, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: Make sure you take any resistance readings with the microwave UNPLUGGED and the component under test isolated (removed) from the circuit.

It makes noise like it's working but isn't

When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.
