You have either a defective ballast or a defective lamp. The lamp is the most likely and is user replaceable. If your ballast is defective you will need to contact a service person
How long is the life
Lamp life is approx 3000 to 3500 working hours and Sony original lamp cost would be around $200
My Sony LCD Projection TV has blue pixilation occuring.
This is not a cheap fix, but call sony they know about this problem and have sent out new TVs to people who have had the issue, I have had about 7 out of ten people who call into sony get brand new sets FREE, so tell them that your optical engine need to be replaced at around $900-1300 and how old it is and the S#, they may not do anything for you but I would try, good luck

My sony wega kf-50we620 has no picture...lamp light on
Yes, you'll need to replace the bulb. Since no electronics stores stock rear projection bulbs, you'll need to look online for the actual lamp. You can get by for awhile by removing the lamp and blowing on it to remove any dust. I did this with mine, but the fix only lasted a few weeks. I was able to find a new lamp online for around $100 and my wife was able to replace it without issue.
Red light blinks 3 times
Lamp door is not installed correctly (not pushing on safety switch). Try to reinstall it.
Or safety switch failed. In this case you need take whole TV apart in order to replace it.
Haze on area that the bulb faces.
If you can clean it and it comes off I would do it. This haze is caused by the extra heat the bulb was putting out before it blew. Make sure you blow/clean out all the dust you can. These TV's have a air intake filter also I believe. The more you can keep the filter clean and the Light Engine the better.
