try to change the battery!

I found that with my Westinghouse SK26H240S lcd tv. that when you turn down the blacklight feature you get a hum thru the audio. so I just turned the blacklight feature to the max and the problem went away, no more audio hum.

The problem in your tv is not external.
The problem is in the power supplies internal filtering.
On the primary side of the power supply main board you will find
a large electrolytic capacitor very near the fuse and the primary transformer( the small one). Next to this capacitor you will find a
large 5 watt diode.( black with a silver band at one end). Next to this you will find one lone 1/4 watt resistor. This resistor in conjuction with large electrolytic capacitor is responcible for the internal filtering of the high voltage side of the board. As your unit heats up( anywhere fron 5 to 30 mins) you will notice horizontal
flickering and prior to that red or green or even purple pixelation.
Check this 1/4 watt resistor for dark discoloration and or a bad solder joint on the solder side of the board. This resistor
is directly responcible for controlling the bias current to the high voltage regulators for the 160 volts DC. At no time should you handle or troubleshoot this board with the line plug in.
Even when this board is powered down that capacitor still holds a charge for up to an hour and can knock your you know what
in your sock. If you do not feel comfortable please take the board to someone else. Hope this helps.

Screen goes black, sound unaffected. Can be remedied by turning off and immediately back on, but it will do it again and again and again.

Sound like dry goint on Power Supply bord. I had the same problem and resolder most of the parts of the power supply and TV was ok.

My Wesinghouse 27" lcd hdtv jumps and vertical hold is out of control after being on 15 mins. The cable company checked the connection and it is clean. We did not damage the tv. It has been doing this since we got it. We did not get a service contract. Sometimes the screen goes black with a small rolling picture on top. Help me please. Can the maufacter still help us?
we lost all the papers when we moved.

I had same problem. Tech's said the power was noisy. I cleaned up the power but the TV still did exactly as you describe. Problem will progressively get worse with longer bouts of flickering. I was under warrenty and sent the TV back. After 3 months I am still waiting for a repalcement.

Have you unplugged the set from AC power? Not just 'turn it off' but physically remove the power cord for 1 minute. Often this 'resets' internal circuitry when a 'power off' will not.
