I am trying to setup my router model wbr 1310,

Hi, There. You should try to reset the router. There's a small hole in the back that you must press with a needle or something similar for about 30 seconds. After all lights turn off and back on, your password should be the factory's original, usually Admin as username and no password.

Good Luck!

How do i secure my router?

Use the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=638vxDkWYbk or use: First of all you need to access the router. Use the following:
Access the D-Link Configuration Screen
Open your web interface and type "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar, then hit "Enter" or "Return."
Use "Admin" as the username and leave the password blank when the login screen appears.
Click "OK." You should now see the D-Link configuration screen.
Secondly, it would be better if only you could change the settings of the router.
Set Up General Security
Change your administrative password by clicking on the "Tools" tab and choosing the "Admin" button. Enter a new password under the "Administrator" heading. Confirm it, and click "Apply."
Disable the wireless Local Area Network (LAN) if you don't need to use the wireless access and you want to make sure no one else is able to access your network.
Under the "Home" tab, choose "Wireless" and select the "Off" option.
Last, is the answer to your problem. Follow:
Enable Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP)
Locate the "Home" tab in the D-Link Configuration screen, and click on the "Wireless" button.
Use the "Open System" button beside "Authentication."
Select the "Enabled" button next to "WEP," and set the encryption key to "128 bit."
Set the "Key Type" to "ASCII" and choose a 13-digit password for the "Key 1" field.
Write down the password in a secure location.

My neighbors are able to use my router how do i

Hi d_smonty! Here is the minimum recommendations I provide for anyone that set up a home wireless network for.

1. Change the default SSID for the access point. To many folks know the defaults
2. Change the default ADMIN password. Again to many people know the defaults.
3. Turn off the broadcast of the SSID. This will prohibit other folks from knowing you have the wireless access point.
4. Turn on MAC filtering. While it is true that many newer network cards can be set for MAC filtering without knowing the proper MAC they still won't get in.

These 4 steps will set you up for basic Wireless security and can be done on your own. Make sure you are doing this from a computer that is wired to the access point. Otherwise you will lose your wireless connection ad not be able to get in and change things. I also recommend that after each step you check the wireless connectivity.

Finally if you access point/router is providing Dynamic IP addresses to the other computes you can change the range of those IP addresses to be different then the default setting. Please feel free to contact me here under your topic if further assistance is needed Regards

I wont to play game in lan with my home frends bat

D-link router provides signals through cable wired connection where each persons computer shares signals from the only computer that has network services. For example, one of the computers that has the internet on which router is connected either has capacity to network several additional computers or not. Usually the server computer that has connections with ethernet cables makes sharing signals possible beyond dial up phone line networked cable conections. The routers splits signals between computers requesting connectivity only becomes possible when enough capacity exist to several computers. The type of network strutures makes the link possible. For example, D-link router should allow to network more than one computer else another router that makes signal expansion possible is prefered. Circumpectively, ascertain that the computer from which video game is installed has the expansive capacity either in cables connection ports, wire links where router becomes the location where each device derives resources.

If it says anything about access point, it does like the encryption type like as WEP WPA WPA2. Also there will be a code after that, you might have to use AES or TKIP for your television, that you have to change by logging into the router and changing.

Error:111 No internet connection error followed

John:
Most likely you will need to disconnect the power cord from your modem for 15 to 20 minutes in order to clear the MAC address of the computer/device that was previously connected to it.

After the modem has been unplugged from power for 15 to 20 minutes, plug it back in and it should then recognize the router as its new MAC address to assign an IP address.

This will probably restore your access to the Internet.

Thanks for using FixYa

I hooked up my D'link

The Network and Sharing Center in Microsoft* Windows Vista* can be used to set up a secure wireless connection to the Internet.

Note: If an Internet connection is not automatically made by the operating system, you may need to contact your access point (AP), broadband wireless router manufacturer, or Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Set Up a Secure Wireless Connection to the Internet

These steps assume that your network adapter; AP or router; and cable, DSL or another type of modem have already been physically connected and configured. They allow you to create a new connection and configure it accordingly.

Follow these steps to set up a secure wireless connection to the Internet.

Note: If a wireless profile does not exist, you will need to create a secure wireless profile before you can set up a wireless connection to the Internet.

1. Access the Network and Sharing Center.

2. Select Set up a connection or network.

3. Click Connect to the Internet.

cs025389_selectanetwork_configurationnotmatching.jpg

4. Click Next.

5. Select Wireless. At this point, if the network(s) that are listed say that the network settings do not match the network requirements, as shown in Figure 1, create a secure wireless profile and then follow the steps again.

6. Select a network and click Connect. If you are not connected to the Internet, you may need to contact your AP/router manufacturer or ISP.

Access the Network and Sharing Center

To access the Network and Sharing Center, use one of the following methods:
  • Start » Control Panel » Network and Internet » Network and Sharing Center
  • Start » Network » Network and Sharing Center
  • Right-click the network system tray icon (the icon that displays two computer monitors) » Network and Sharing Center
