I thought I asked this already but it does not

the backlight is either going out or the capacitor for the backlight is bad to where its not storing enough power to run the backlight the start capacitor must be good but the run capacitor might be bad usually the backlight itself goes bad but not if it turns on for a few seconds it would have to be the capacitor.

Magnavox LCD HDTV starts on its own

it either needs new front switch panel or new signal module, turn the tv on and disconnect the front switch board if it quits doing things on it's own you need a new front switch panel, if it still does functions on it's own you need a new signal board.

Magnavox 15MF605T/17B how to remove the front panel to replace speakers?

I presume the back cover does not really open from the back or if it does you cannot see the speakers from the rear?which if you cannot see them with rear cover removed leaves two possible paths, the entire panel unit with the screen has to be removed and they are under it OR the entire front may be snapped together and has to be pryed out (if you see a seam or crack like area running around the side up front get a thin metal putty knife and try to open it, seen a lot of computer LCD monitors where they come apart from the front--and are snapped together much like some of our plastic remotes--have to go in from the front and not the rear.Do some careful looking to see what you have.

Problem with Magnavox 15MF605T/17B

Hi SgtHoagie and anyone else:

I ran across this problem too, at 1:30 this morning. At that time I had to get out of bed and try to figure out what the hell happened. It seems that my flat panel TV somehow got switched over to the computer monitor mode. When this happens, the light will turn an amber color. On the bottom of your flat panel you'll see some very small buttons, marked "MENU," "CH" "VOL" and "SOURCE." You'll want to click on the "Source" button and that will switch your flat panel back to the TV mode. Your flat panel TV can also be also used as computer monitor.

I have a Magnavox 15"

Good day!

Just remove all screws at the back of the TV then pull up the cover by using screw driver (+)Philip or flat (-) depends on type of the screw of your TV.

After that you have a access to the internal parts.Try to look at the power supply board,it is usually connected to the power cord

After you found the power supply, look at the capacitors if it is leak/bulged on the top.If you found the leak/bulged on the top capacitor replaced it immediately with the same type, ratings and value.

Watch this video to learn how to replace bad capacitors:

After you replaced the bad capacitors, try to power it ON to test if it is OK.

If this solution will help you, don't forget to rate my answer.Thank you and good luck.

Remote no longer works.

Universal remote codes for Phillips:
0025, 0027, 0031, 0153

For Magnavox:

0027

If your RCA converter remote functions as a universal remote one of those codes should work. If not, you should be able to find a basic universal remote for around $10 at any drug store or grocery store. If you have a more complex home theater system and are interested in advanced functionality, Logitech makes an excellent line of universal remotes that range from around $80 to hundreds of dollars.

Magnavox 15inch lcd shuts itself off

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

I have a Magnavox 20MF500TV/17.

The color light/led is typical indication of a problem in the power section..IT can be from a few things failing. None of these are really major on their own but when you go to repair them the cost can add up due to labour. Thats the deal breaker on fixing these smaller tv's. Even a simple repair will cost as much as a replacement. So we tend to recommend a new tv. We don't sell them so we don't make any money on that. If a store would tell you that you may get a wee bit suspicious but in this case a store might actually be telling the truth.

Normally what goes out on these are a few small capacitors in the power section. If I were to fix it I would replace every even slightly suspicious one (maybe 6-10 total) and the parts might cost $5. Unfortunately to do that the labour would be over $100 minimum.

Best advice is to replace it, then you get a new warrantied tv and a working remote for about the same money. If you have a friend who can solder and you can get to do it on the cheap if he can fix it then it might be worth fixing. Unfortunetly unless the tv is larger and much newer they usually aren't worth fixing for the owner.

How long have you had the unit?
If less then a year ,Take back to where you puchased it, if not you may open it yourself.
There is a Inverter Board that gives a Baklight.
You see LCD means Liquid Chrystal Display, but it need a light source to shine upon your display.
If you google your model on the net you will find many suppliers for this inexpensive item. Between 20 40 dollars
OK

I turn on my TV

Hello,

First check if your televisions screen saver is not on, then check if you do not have your television on some settings that could cause such. Once you have verified that, then it means it is a hardware problem.

The causes of such problems are either bad lamp or faulty t-com board. The solution to the problem is for you to have the the television opened, assess the lamp and t-com board and replace which ever is faulty.

Take care and good luck

The on/off switch is not working. The only way to

Hello sir/ma'am, hi! here are my likely solution to your problem:
Let start with the easy one: 1. the power supply switch, you may need to feel the switch, like a click or a snap when you press the power button, if this feeling is not present on your switch, this may need replacement. OR
the serious one: 1. You may need a replacement power supply board. the thing is we don't usually replace the bad component, but the whole board, due to modular construction. so if the power supply board is the problem this goes out and put in we then put in a new one.
The defective board goes back to service and testing, if given back to the manufacturer, this takes a lot of process.

I NEED A POWER SUPPLY AND CORD FOR A MAGNAVOX 15'

Either you can get this universal type available inthe market in any electronic spares store or it is easy too make one by yourself if you are familiar with electroncis.
All you need is a mains transformer with secondary voltage at 12 volt and 4 amps capacity, use a bridge rectifier , good storage capacitor of about 4700mfd/25 volts and if possible use a 12 V regulator so that the power is smooth, regulated and protected..
