Haier 42EP24S Tech Manual
From what I've read up on, you should cut your losses and box the TV until the class action lawsuit develops. I've tried to sell mine for $100 and no one wants it.
Haier Plasma
Had the same problem. Purchased Haier 42" model 42EP24S from Sears and it broke in 1 1/2 years. Couldn't find anyone to fix it so I ordered part Service Kit: TV-3940-01 from
www.searspartsdirect.com the cost was $150.00. If your warranty is up and you're okay with doing your own work. :-)
Replaced 3 boards (instruction included) and my tv is back in action.
Sound yes but can't get the screen to light up
I have a ViewSonic flat screen TV that was purchased in November of last year. The problem that has just occurred this weekend, there are 2 channels that are getting a Radio stations
commentary instead of the actual tv program that is displayed.
How can I fix this problem?

Your problem is on the z-sus board. Replace the slow blow fuse (there are two so ohm to find the blown one or replace both) until you can acquire the upgrade kit. I'll need an email address to forward the upgrade instructions and diagrams to unless you know where the board is. You can email me at

Don't have an eeprom chip except the one that I removed when the upgrade kit was installed. However it was working fine. My problem was the Z-SUS board. If your chip is burnt and you'd like the one I have, I'll be happy to send it to you. I suggest though that you do get the kit on order or it's going to continue to be a pain in the a--!
Haier LCD TV
Follow these instructions to the "T". On step 13 use factory on the right menu block instead of the left.
The procedure resets your monitor to factory setting on the boards an eeprom. It may or may not work if you have a bad component.
1. Using the Volume button (Remote or Monitor) turn the volume all the way down.
2. Hold the Menu button on the Monitor.
3. Press the Menu button on the Remote.
4. Press and hold the Volume button on the remote for 5 seconds and then release the Menu button on the Monitor. After this step the date will appear on the left side of the screen within 10 seconds.
5. Click the Menu button on the remote.
6. Click the Left Arrow button on the remote.
7. By using the Down Arrow button, scroll to Settings and then click the Left Arrow button.
8. Highlight "Eepreset" and click the Left Arrow button. (The monitor will turn off at this time)
9. Push the Power button on the remote, the unit will turn back on.
10. Click the Menu button on the remote.
11. Click the Left Arrow button on the remote.
12. By using the Down Arrow button, scroll to Settings and then click the Left Arrow button.
13. Highlight Factory and click on the Left Arrow button to select "Off"
14. Click Menu on the remote.
15. Click Menu on the remote.

cableman try this exactley to the "T" with the instructions in front of you. The procedure resets your monitor to factory settings. On step 13 use the factory setting on the right side menu block not the left. It may or may not work if you have a bad board or eeprom.

Haier Upgrade Kit
In one of my earlier post I posted the phone number where to order the board. However they were on back order so I got lucky an located the upgrade kit on Ebay. I'll post the part number for the kit and boards you need.
TV-3940-01 is a kit that contains the following parts:
Control Board – TV-5210-39
Y-Sus – TV-5210-35
Z-Sus – TV-5210-37
EEprom (2006 version) - TV-2455-03
Haier plasma tv
year and a half old haier plasma 42 inch tv started blinking in and out. is it repairable and how do yo find a technician????? help
Broken plasma
You will need service on that tv. I suspect a bad power supply or possibly the y or z board. Do you see delay in the picture when it changes?
Haier 42EP242S Problem
too bought a Haier Plasma 42EP24S ,it stopped working after 7 months -I moved and did not touch it for the next five months
while searching for another tv to replace it- I came apon this site .
the tv was out of warrenty by both sears and haeir
well after reading these posts I called haier america and complained they in turn extended my warrenty and a sears rep came on 5 differant times and replaced all the boards inside tv with no luck - so after putting in over $1400.00 in parts an repair into a $1200.00 tv they wanted to start replacing boards again
I refused and kept complaining to several differant reps at sears
[they told me it was haeirs responsabilty not thiers] I don't know haw many times I explained to them that sears sold me the tv not haeir so stand behind what you sell -well after alot of calls and persistance sears replaced my tv free of charge with credt for a new tv for exactly what I paid
SO DONT BUY ANY PARTS OR PAY FOR ANY SERVICE IF YOU BOUGHT THIS TV AND ARE HAVING PLOBLEMS
be persistant untill its either fixed or replaced
