7330GZ won't turn on
I had the same thing happen to my computer 7330 gz and all the trouble was caused by a faulty ac adaptor. Battery wasn't holding a charge either because it's 3 years old and worthless. I got a replacement adapter at best buy for 100 buck and it's universal. Fixed it up just fine and now I'm sharing my solution with you!

If you go to where the start button connects to the computer mother board and disconnect it. YOu can put a screwdriver across the two spikes coming from the board and it should start. That wil confirm that it is not a board problem.Next get a small battery test light ,or ohm meter and hook to the two wires from the switch. Press the switch. If it lights that everything is ok. If not you are down to the wires or the switch. Disconnect the wires for the bvack of the switch and test the switch with the light again w/o the wires. Works now=bad wires or connection. Does not work=bad switch.

Gateway MX6930 Notebook will not power up
Yes a bad battery could cause this, or a bad battery control circuit. If it works with the battery out then it's one of these two issues. If it's the control circuit, there's not much you can do, I'm afraid, but the only way to be sure is to get a new battery (or borrow one for the same model).

Screen brightness often flickers
Your problem could be a faulty backlighting panel or the power connector for the backlight needs reseating.
There are two connectors on the LCD that are connected to the motherboard, one for the video signal and the other for the backlight power supply, reseat this connector and hopefully your problem will be fixed.
Gateway 7330GZ- PArts needed
Those cables are custom made for each manufacturer and model. The only place to get a replacement (other than buy a junker on ebay) is from the manufacturer. The plastic pieces are another matter. They are standard connectors and you can buy them from Digikey or Mouser. Soldering them in place is not for a novice. You need a proper soldering iron, desoldering tool, very fine solder and a lot of patience and skill.

try to insatll new OS.
also check the flex cable that connect keypad to LCD.
Gateway 7330GZ PC Notebook screen going off and on
Ya, my 7330GZ has been having this problem. I did end up taking the screen apart.
Removing the little black nubs around the screen allow you to remove the screws, then you just use a flat headed screw driver to unclip around the edges (some can be stubborn, especially along the bottom).
The screen is glued to the casing along the top and bottom, so you have to gently separate the two.
After you have it opened up the screen has 3-4 screws along the left and right side (the right side is a pain to unscrew since the wireless antenna casing runs right along it).
Once you remove those screws you can take the screen out and get access to the ribbon cable running along the back.
Gateway laptop
I have the same laptop and have had to take it apart completely a couple times. Luckily to get at the power button is fairly easy. On the bottom of the laptop there are 4 screws towards the back, take out the middle two (they'll be long ones). Now flip over the laptop, open the lid and using a flat headed screw driver you want to pry the plate with the power button, etc. along the top of the keyboard off (it just clips in, those two screws were holding it down). Under that plate will be a small chip that has a ribbon cable going to the motherboard. My ribbon cable recently got broken so I'm working on figuring out a method for powering it on now.
Backlight doesn't work. How much to replace? Can I fix if novice
Backlights are not generally expensive but I wouldn't suggest you repair it yourself unless you've opened up pc's before....you'll need a service repair manual to do it yourself as, at the very least, you'll have to remove the screen bezel (usually 4 screws) and then detach the screen from the hinges (again usually 4 screws).
I would suggest getting a couple of quotes from repair centres.
As far as backlight goes it either works or doesn't (like a light bulb) sporadic use usually means a bad connection rather than a blown light but it would still need to be opened up to check the connections...again needing a service manual and a technical person
