In for repair I have this sony model #
Hi:
In my experience with this model, you must replace the system control board/power supply, trying to fix this model sony at componet level is next to impossible, you will not find any bad caps on the power supply, the problem resides on the main system control board, Bad microprocessor reset, the reset pin of the micro is being taken high when in fact it should remain low. If you measure the micro reset pin while turning on you will find the micro reset is low 0 volts, the minute the unit shuts off it will go high +5 volts, and then cycle, you might check the occillator crystal and any surface mount caps in this section, but the cheaper route is to just replace the board. How do I remove the stand of the Sony Bravia XBR
you have to lay the tv on it's front on something to protect it from being damaged.on the back you'll see where the base joins the bottom of the display, this needs to be unscrewed and a wall bracket screwed in instead.

HDMI stopped working with computer
HDMI connectors are very bad soldered inside the set,not easy to resolder for an amateur ( if you are an amateur offcourse )
Other option is the HDMI cable itself.
No sound in Sony Bravia
If the sound is not heard during tuner (channel) but is when using an AV input (DVD) then it is likely the Second Audio Program (SAP) has been engaged. Some SONYs simply have a button on the remote to toggle through choices, SAP is used primarily for second language transmission of audio. Either move to a PBS station or some other channel that specifies SAP programmimg or turn the choice (MTS in some SONY menus) back to "main" by either a remote button or in the audio menu.
Good luck.
