I would suspect the main board first, it sounds like a poorly filtered signal. However, there are other things that can cause the same problem. Not having it before me I cannot remember what boards it is equipped with. A logic board or a T-con board could cause a snowy picture. This is not very likely but possible. I would stick with the main board and make sure my input signal was not impeded in any way. Try hooking the input signal up in a different port, it could be just part of the main board bad. If you are hooked up to the UHF-VHF tuner input try some of the other inputs using the RCA type cables. If you are on just an antenna try running it through a VCR first and hook from the RCA outputs to the TV. If you are on satellite then you have numerous options to hook into. Also make sure that there is nothing close to the set that might induce a strong RF signal, such as a Microwave device or a LMR (land mobile radio). If none of this works I would recommend that you remove the back and take the main board out. It is the board where the antenna or cable hooks into. Don't worry about marking the wires because as in all TV, you cannot plug the wires back into the wrong socket. If it goes in then it is right, if it doesn't find somewhere that it does. You cannot plug the wires in wrong on it. It is a simple operation, lay the TV flat down face first on something like a blanket. Take the back off, it only has a few thousand screws in it [at least it seems that way]. Remove the main board and look on the board and find the part #. I always bought from (www.shopjimmy's.com). You can enter what you think is the part # and if it is the part # it will show a picture of the board, if it is not the correct # it will tell you. The boards have several #'s on them.. Use the magnifier if necessary to see that they look alike. Order the board and install it. If that is not the problem then you can return the board.Try that and email me back with the results.
