DST stands for Drive Self Test, it means your drive is failing.
I would get a new hard drive and USB enclosure, install new drive in laptop and install windows, then take the old drive and install it in the USB enclosure so you can connect to your laptop when windows is running and restore your files, assuming the drive is not completely dead.
thanks for rating

I turn the power on and all the lights turn on, then the caps lock stays on and all others turn off, sounds like something isn't powering up. then it flashes a few times and the whole computer shuts off. any ideas on what it could be? Thanks.

My battery light is flashing orange (4 times) then green (1 time). The laptop will run on either ac or battery power. When I unplug the laptop, it says I have full power on my battery (ie 4hours) but the light won't stop flashing in this sequence.

The LED sequence indicates a failure in the battery. (Like one cell has low charge) As long as the overall battery output meets the minimum for system operation, the battery will work.
The average lifespan for a Portable battery is about 500 discharge/recharge cycles (1 to 2 years) anything after that is a bonus
Replace the battery, issue will go away

You need to go to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the 6000 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.

I found your information on how to connect to TV and followed instructions. When I go to connect the screen on my cpu goes blank and then pops back up and defults to the laptop setting and wont transfer to TV???

If there is no display on your TV, HDTV, or Projector, please make sure that all of your connections are set up properly and that you have enabled the display in the Catalyst Control Center. The connectors that you will be using would be Svideo for TVOUT, DVI-to-HDTV (Component video), VGA-to-HDTV (Component video) for HDTV, and DVI, VGA, or Svideo for the projector.
Here are the steps to properly setup and enable TV, HDTV, or Projector:
Starting Windows with TV or Projector Display Enabled The TV screen may become scrambled during the initial Windows® logo display. This is only a temporary effect and your screen will be restored within a few seconds. During start up, your RADEON will go through a sequence of mode settings, during which your TV display will remain blank. This process takes only a few seconds and helps program the TV display.
For more information on connecting your second display to your Video card, including supported output device combinations, please refer to your user’s manual.

When I plug in my ac adapter into my computer to charge it the green light turns off and won't charge my computer. My sister has the exact same computer, model, etc. so I took my battery and plugged my ac adapter into her computer and it totally works fine, and I put her battery and used her ac adapter and the green light still turns off. So I know that it's not my battery and not my ac adapter. I'm not sure exactly what it is. It might be where you connect the ac adapter to the computer. It maybe fried or something I don't know. My computer has had a virus problem before and if you look at my ac adapter it has duck tape in numerous places to hold it together cause one of dogs chewed on it a few years ago. My question is what could it be? and How much is this going to cost? Should I just get a new computer?

hi bro what u need to do is ... understand when u plug in the ac adapter the light on the ac adapter goes off and whne u unhoook it it comes on .. right there is a possible static charge in the mobo bcoz of which the ac current is nt able to flo on thru the wires to the motherboard .. what u can do is turn ur laptop off completely unhook the ac adpter and take off the battery as well press the power button for 15 sec press and hold it do this xcersice .. hook every thing up and try to charge the battery again it should work .....second possible thing can be may be the connectors on the mobo can be bad on the pin in the prong on the ac adpter must be twisted ,,, so check for that as well ...if still no go then either problem with the onboard power connector on mother board or the whole mother board power aseembly IE replace the mobo ....

DST Error (1000-0146)
Posted by hzscpin on
Hi there, and welcome to FixYa,
DST stands for Drive Self Test, if it fails the test it means your drive is failing.
1. Do you have access to a Windows CD?
If so you can try to boot to the recovery console and run chkdsk /r.
Hopefully you can get it to boot, backup what you need, - then replace the drive.
2. Another solution could bee, - a bit more aggressive,
Reinstall your OS.
3. or - it could just be an error that can’t be fixed. I would get a new disk, install my OS, set the other as slave, and get the needed files.
Don’t forget to vote if this help you.

How can I repair the error 2000-0334 Dell Laptop?

My battery light is flashing orange (4 times) then green (1 time). The laptop will run on either ac or battery power. When I unplug the laptop, it says I have full power on my battery (ie 4hours) but the light won't stop flashing in this sequence. My dell inspiron 6000 has the battery (I think) light - it has a lightning bolt thingy flashing 4 orange and 1 green, the symbol to the left of itis also flashing orange. I have it on ac power but lights are driving me nuts? Do I need a new battery?

I have had three different laptops, last one an XPS from DELL which did the same thing. Replacing the battery solved all three laptops. How old is the battery you have in there now?
