Can i connect this computer to wireless

As it stands, no you can't as it doesn't have wireless built in. You can, however, add ireless connectivity with a USB wireless dongle.

I cant hear the sound of anything in my compaq

dialup sound is coming from the speaker inside the computer, the sound from the music or cd will come from the ext speaker of the computer
the issue u r facing is a generic issue with all Windows OS updates....many of the users are facing this issue....this issue began after an auto update from MS changed many IRQs of Win OS, mainly the Sound and Audio Control system of Windows.
1 - R U facing NO Audio / No Sound issue...?
2 - Is ur Volume Control not responding ?
3 - Is ur Sound and Audio Device in Control Panel Grayed out ?
4 - Do u get a msg "No Active Mixer Devices Installed....when u try to open Volume Ctrl etc etc ?

If ur ans to any one of them is Yes...then u are being spammed by Microsoft....as ur Sound Control IRQ is being frozen by a recent update from Microsoft....

No file update or any sound driver update can fix it, neither Microsoft is issuing any patch to fix it…or giving any help on this.
Full solution is available in my website (Support page)...it's quite simple process to fix it, and I am not charging any money, just doing FREE service to help everyone affected by this stupidity from Microsoft.
visit my Support Page.

many of us are victim of this “stupid” update, my office has 24 PC/Notebooks and almost all of them got this issue one by one in 4 months time period, I head the tech dept here.
all the best...
Kindly leave a feedback/rating to this solution as it will help me understand if my solution worked

Internet connection not working right compaq evo n1020v

First you will need to have the install disc for your card.Install driversoftware from cd or dvd, following directions.Once installed you should see a new hardware device has been found notification.

Next you will need to configure your card with the routers wep key or wireless security key.I am assuming wireless is activated on your router.Should see a light on the router lit under wireless,or a symbol.
1 start pc then start internet explorer.
2 Type in the top bar of ie or hit enter.
3 This should bring you to the routers home page.usaername=admin password=password or admin
4 Find your wireless tab or settings page looking for security area.
5 Find your wep or wireless security code, write this down.
6 Log off of router.
7 Go into network cards configuration program and put this wep code into the area provided.
8 Software may have found it automaticly, it just needs this code.

If you cant connect to router at step one use a ethernet cable from your pc to the router to log on.

Hope this helps.

Blue screen with a stop 0x0000007e

I see this kind of error often, and it isn't easily recovered from. Often the hard drive is failing, and sometimes it is memory related. If you have important data to save, you need to have someone help you transfer your data to another hard drive. Your most likely avenue is to use your restore disk set, or borrow a disk and restore your windows, if possible, and if the error continues, you need to run diagnostic softare on the hard drive to determine if it is failing.

I have a compaq evo n1020v, and i want to connect

First of all you need a router (or free hotspot) to connect to. Connecting to other's person router without prior consent is regarded as theft by the law.
To actually connect: Start / Control Panel / Wireless network setup wizard - follow its instructions.

Evo n1020v screen problem

If you hear the hard drive spinning and you think Windows is working but you can't see an image then :-
You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :-
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Computer wont boot

Try disambling the system. Clean it with a wind blower. Check BIOS battery capacity. Replace if possible. Power on the laptop. Do you hear humming sound from hard disk ? If you hear sssssssshhhhh sound from hard disk; it's OK. Replace RAM with new one. If problem still exists Than change main board. Hope that not happen. Keep informing.

I'm not sure what good getting into safe mode is going to do?

More than likely this is a hardware problem - If you have already tried different RAM the next thing would be CPU. You may be able to just reseat the CPU in it's socket to help things out.

On the N1020v to access the CPU, you just have to remove 2 screws underneath the power button strip and then the keyboard just pops up. Remove the heatsink and the CPU is right there. If you want to replace it use the part number on the CPU itself (something like SL245)

To forewarn you though - i have worked on these laptops many times and more often the problem is a failing motherboard than a bad CPU or RAM. However it is worth a shot at fixing it if it just needs a CPU.

Good luck!
