Common problem here. The board needs to be replaced. Depending on the model, it can cost up to $500 or so. Also when baking they have been know to kick into the cleaning mode. At which time the oven door will lock and the oven gets very hot and can start a fire. This happened to me. Had to shut the oven breaker off. Had to buy a new oven-and not one that cleans with the very hot temps.

Then the oven door locks and cannot get in. Then what ever you have in the oven really gets black and starts a fire. This happened to me a while back. Had to shut off the range breaker and wait til the oven cooled of to open door. Really smelled. Had to buy a new oven because we could not get the burned smell out. I would suggest not to use the oven til new board is installed. Or buy new oven. We bought a AQUALIFT clean oven. It cleans at 250 degrees. Not the high temp of 500 degrees plus.

The spark switch attached to the gas valve is bad, but usually you have to replace the complete switch string. Yes, you are right, all the switches are wired in parallel, and all the ignitors spark at the same time, so if you get 1 burner sparking, they will all spark, and now you can turn on the gas valve with the bad switch, and it will light too. Sounds like it will not explode, but it surely may start a fire somewhere. I should recommend you to have someone unplug it ( if it can be unplugged) or turn off the circuit breaker if it is "hardwired " into the house or apartment. Please have it checked by an expert before you try to use it again. Be blessed.
